You might be able to fight legally on medical necessity. For example if you had a CPAP and the HOA tries to fine the generator "keeping you alive", that's a problem.

Mine is trash. NOT REFURBISHED, looks HEAVILY USED. Oil leaking in box and scratches and scuffs all over outside of generator with sun faded labels. Looks heavily used or left outside for a long period

Contacted the seller and they were very dismissive. Just said to issue eBay Return. The item weighs almost 100lbs in packaging. They want me to load into my car, drive to a UPS, unload from my car, take my hand truck to get into UPS store for what? A refund of what I paid?

They know 100% they never inspected the item, sent an item that did NOT match their description and was NOT refurbished but instead USED (and / or returned after used and never inspected). This seller should not be trusted and buy definitely at your own risk

I do not think all of the effort to return is anywhere worth us being EVEN. And the seller knows this too which is why they DARE you to do the return process

Very similar experience and the customer service response was very telling. Basically daring me to take the time, effort, and breaking my back to return it. For what? To get my original money back? Needs to be a penalty to fraudulent sellers like this. They know these aren't refurbs and they know they don't match their description

Not super loud. I would doubt your neighbors would hear it inside their houses. But f*ck your HOA if they're complaining during an emergency outage. if you just want to run a fridge, you can get a smaller gen but I doubt it would be much quieter.
Gotta remember like I said before that you can buy a bigger one and it will idle under more load. Putt putt putt. Might be quiet enough to not even be noticeable, esp. if you house it in a small shed.

Ugh ordered the smaller one by now I would rather the 4000 one. The listing says free returns. Anyone have any experience with this. Would like to order the bigger one before it sells out but don't want to be stuck with two units lol.

Contacted seller but no response as of yet. Fomo!

Same boat, lol.. can request cancellation, if that doesn't work... could probably just resell on craigslist pretty easily, perhaps at a small profit, especially if you had a recent outage and people may be looking out for them.

I doubt these are refurbished, something about "new" generators are now required to have a CO sensor. I bet they just called these refurbished in order to sell them without calling them "new".

So glad it doesn't have the CO2 monitor. I have a 12kw generac with it and it'll shut off when the wind blows wrong.

This is a little too small to provide backup power for most homes, no?
Not whole home. But run a few extensions cords inside for fridge, TV's, computers, modem, wifi, etc. Maybe a small A/C unit if needed, or an electric heater on LOW setting.

I'd have to pull it up again but I thought it said returns, but buyer pays shipping. I hope you get it ironed out and I'm not the guy who made you buy 2 generators. In the end if they run right should be an easy local sale of the other.

Unless it is destroyed that 4000w was the real deal

For $80 more you can get the refurb wh03242 firman 4000/3200.
Pass... I almost bought a new wh03242 at Costco a few months ago when they dropped to $600. But I have no use for duel fuel or electric start on small engines, and propane significantly kills the amount of power it can produce. When the battery dies, it wont pull-start on propane anyways, rendering it a useless chunk of metal. Small generator starter batteries generally dont last long, even when they are on a trickle charger. Many die in the box before they can sell the generator when brand new. Reviews showed the claimed 4000 starting watts to be overrated by the manufacturer, for a lack of engine displacement necessary to maintain enough torque to start a 4000 watt load. Then not finding a way to easily disable the co2 sensor on that model killed the deal for me.

My requirement is cheap reliability and simplicity with less things to go wrong. I will likely never exceed 2900 running watts, my starting loads are minimal and I average less than 1000 watts during a power outage. Even less while camping, so this deal seemed like the best for my purposes.

Either way, its great that we can all buy a fairly reliable inverter generator at such a reasonable price. I have 3 Honda's, but reserve them for work, the RV and tailgating to keep the exhaust sound to a minimum with maximum reliability. If someone rips off the Furman while camping in isolated areas, I wont cry too much.

Thanks OP. From the comments posted here, seems to be a pretty good inverter generator to grab, if the size works for you. Got one heading my way with that great pricing.

I think the battery point is what'll ultimately keep me from going for it. I don't really want to have to maintain another battery, and according to the listing, the refurbished units only come with the manual and propane hose/regulator - not the additional battery maintainer they normally ship with.

I like not having the CO sensor either since I'm not going to try to use it in an enclosed space. In theory, no electric starter & less electronics should help ensure longevity, but who knows if that'll make any real difference when one of the more likely points of failure is the control board anyway.

The WH03242 with its CO sensor warnings looks a lot busier & probably bewildering to people too.
