Yeah, part of the reason I try to post deals like this is because I want to make sure ZWave and Zigbee stay on the market. Wifi smart devices are useful if you're only going to use one or two but get annoying in a hurry.

Hubitat will let you do anything you can think of and more. Endless customization, integration and options at your finger tips all on your local network. The deeper you go the harder it is to get out. Every time a light switch is flipped, door opened, motion detected, temperature/humidity changes, faucet is turned on, washer is run, fridge makes ice, device connects to your network, skunk walks through your backyard at midnight... Your brain can't help but process the chain reaction of profiles, variables, loops, if then statements, timers, delays, counters that you spent 4 years configuring, patching and breaking. Your family will blame you for everything that goes wrong and you will lose sleep tip toeing around the house at 3am because it's the only time when you can safely debug , troubleshoot or test new settings without your wife raging.

Ctrl+z before it's too late.

Every time the C7 goes on sale, I say "this is it, I'm pulling the trigger".

Then, I instantly remind myself that there's a massive undertaking once you get it and I have other unfinished projects.

It also doesn't help that Google is slowly catching up in terms of native functionality.

They've added routines and it seems like they're exposing some of their API to Amazon so you can use Alexa skills to control Nest devices.

But you know what they haven't added? A delay/wait/pause command. All I want is a reliable way to delay actions in a routine and they simply won't do it.
I'm of course biased because this is an ecosystem that I'm in, but I don't find Hubitat a massive undertaking. Or, at least, it doesn't need to be at a certain level. Don't get me wrong -- you can absolutely dive into a rabbit hole that's almost as deep as HA. However -- and this is as someone who has been meaning to install and automate some motion/humidity sensors for a year but hasn't gotten to it b/c of other projects (and Tears of the Kingdom) -- a ton of functionality can be gained through the built-in "basic rules" app. The UI looks like a geocities page from 1997 but the app has the most common funtions and interactions for sensors/switches/etc. You likely don't need to mess with Rule Machine and stuff at all to have a home system that makes you happy. After I installed my light switches and water/door/tilt sensors, setting up each one took just a few minutes.

Besides delay/wait/pause, the other issue with google is that one device triggering a second device action is difficult/impossible ime.

The relays intrigue me. Anyone have some examples of use cases. I'm almost out of zwave things to get for my house and am always looking for new excuses to add more automation. Haha.
Zen 16 - I am using it to manually turn on my Tankless Water Heater. It simulates a momentary button push in lieu of a hard wired button

I mean, basically all the relays do is add zwave to any electrical circuit. So you could use it to effectively make smart switches out of your dumb switches. Or outlets. Or whatever. So if there's anything that's plugged into an outlet that you want control of, you could use it. The only complication is you might need to short out the switch on the device. Like you could short out your coffee maker's switch (so it's always on when it's plugged in) and then have your coffee made when you turn on the bedroom light in the morning.

Honestly, the main reason I wish I had used relays earlier is because then I could have kept my dumb light switches (which fit into the gangbox) instead of replacing them with zwave switches (which barely fit and are a bit more expensive).

That doesn't draw more amps than the relay can handle?

Is the GPIO basically a replacement for an AEOTEC stick or does it have other uses?
I'm using the AEOTEC on my RPi now..
I'm a bit rusty on this stuff. I built my system 3+ years ago. I use it every day but I don't remember all that I did to build it

No, I should have clarified. It doesn't turn on the 120v power.

My tankless is a Navien and one of the options is a hard wired, low voltage button option where you can have multiple buttons throughout your house to activate the Recirculation pump which gets the cold water out of the hot water line.

These relay are also used quite often fo open a garage door

Oh, that's cool. I should look into my boiler to see if that would be useful for my house.

Yeah, the smart garage door usage is one of the most common ones. I don't have the relay, but I believe they have a garage door mode pre-programmed for Hubitat.

I've just reviewed their return policy and did not find anything which would limit my rights. Very typical policy. Are you referring to something specific , are just trolling here ?
Moreover, I returned one dimmer ( which, in fact, I damaged due to incorrect wiring ) and received the replacement with no hassle . However, I admitted what I did and was told to correct the wiring ( received the detailed diagram with explanation from them )
I don't normally champ at the bit to do further business with a company that just ripped me off and displayed bad customer service. But we all have our prerogatives.

The main idea is that it's similar, at least from what I know about the AEOTEC stick. The main use is to add zwave LR to your own HA setup, whether the CPU is RPi or HAY.

Some months back, my Google Home devices stopped working nicely with my Hub. I changed the routines to actually use custom commands like "Turn off Den TV" instead of using the device in the routine and turning it off. just an FYI

I use the Zen17 to turn on the hot water re-circulator on my Rinnai tankless system.. so I can say, "hey google, get the shower ready" and the re-circulator pump kicks on. The Zen17 has a built in timer so it shuts off after ~3 minutes. This way I don't have to rely on Homeseer to turn it off after 3 minutes. Rinnai has this functionality with their Control-R device, but they've broken it with updates so many times I just decided to use the Zen17 instead. Been using it for a couple of years now without any issue.

Aren't these the normal "sale" prices for zooz products. I see this quite a bit.

Why do you need a switch to turn on/off a tankless water heater?

Well, sure. But a sale is still a sale. This isn't La-Z-Boy where every week is a sale. For most of the year, these are not the prices.

Also, each sale tends to have slightly different prices, usually +/- $3-5. And different items.

Thanks. It would free up a USB port I guess. Which might be nice because they are so close on the RPi that I have to use extensions.

But I'm thinking I don't feel like re-learning what I did so I can use this.
