Maybe your technique is wrong. This thing destroys weeds and eventually the grass will fill in those spots.

My kids also fight over who gets to use it. It's a lot of fun.

Possible. Although its pretty simple to use but could be my due to my soil/lawn.
I'm just sharing my experience. Glad it works for you and keeps the kids busy. But for me the weeds grew back faster than the grass filling the holes in.

Regardless of price, I would pass on this.
I got this one and removed all the dandelions in my yard. It leaves ~1" holes everywhere you pull a weed. Whats worse, the weeds all came back, growing out of the holes. So now my yard still has dandelions AND holes.
I now use a simple hand weeder to sever the root, it's not too much more work than this tool and doesn't leave you with a messed up yard

Could be the soil types, you are right.

This year I haven't had to use it at all since it was so effective last two years.

I bought one for $34.61 back in 2016 so the price hasn't gone up much. I put grass seeds in the hole right after I pull out the weeds but have to say those weeds do come and I pulled the roots out. I haven't used the tool much since the first two or three years.

This thing is a plastic POS IMO. It snapped on me after a few uses. I would get the origional Grampa's Weeder thats metal and wood instead.

I have both the 3 claw and 4 claw versions. I think the 4 claw (this one) works a lot better at gripping the weeds. It's well worth it for me.

I've been using this for a couple years now in my mulch area there my weeds are 1-2 foot tall. Works great.
My mother is a gardener and she used it and thought it was amazing.

I have this, and it's good, but it works best in yards with pure dirt w/ no clay. I'm at the bottom of the hill in my housing addition, and our yards have the original Missouri clay with the small layer of dirt on top for the landscaping to catch on to sell houses. My neighbor up the street, had to have a lot of dirt brought in to level out his yard, and the clay starts 3 feet under his grass. This tool works MUCH better and easier in his yard than mine when pulling the weeds out. He saw me use mine, asked about it one day, brought it over to show him and immediately noticed how much more smoother it works in his yard, just like the videos.

Fiskars honors their warranty without much hassle. I pulled about 30ish weeds one day before mine snapped at the bottom where the claw closes. I honestly think i put too much weight on it while pulling it back. They asked me to send a picture of the broken one with a copy of the original order receipt (Amazon invoice pdf). 5 days after I filled out the claim I got a brand new one. They didn't ask for me to ship back the broken one. New one has been working great. Try not to put too much stress on it since the plastic is pretty vulnerable. If I had buy another weeder I'd probably just go for the brand grandpa's weeder which seems to have better build quality and made out of bamboo and steel.

I have to concur. I used this when I bought my current house. The best way to get rid of crabgrass and dallis grass. Don't spray weed killers for grassy weeds, use this then Pre-emergent. Dimension 2EW + Granular is my winning formula.

I barely use it anymore, mostly for when neighbor's weeds creep up or grow near our property lines, clear them out just in case.

I wouldn't use it on dandelions though, leafy weeds are easier to remove with a simple spray like Bayer advanced weed control.

This was one of the best value items I have bought for lawn work.

Yes CCC is not working for this item. I had been watching it for several months and CCC always reports $35.

From what I've seen myself, $37 is a decent price for this. Home Depot has it for $47

I have the same issue. Sometimes if the weeds have shallow or thin roots this tool will fail to pull it out. I have an old-school (from the 70s) version of this tool which works much better.
