I'm a trim carpenter. This is the Cadillac of miter saws right here. Love mine.
Shadow line never needs to be adjusted (unlike a laser line). That's the brilliant part about it.
Nov 9th 2021, I paid 629.00 for this saw.. its cheaper now, by far. $425 is a steal.

You obviously haven't heard of the Festool Kapex Mitre saw. This DeWalt is cheap china junk..
I've yet to meet a single trim carpenter in the industry that actually uses festool. Those of us that actually get stuff done don't spend $2000 on a miter saw. I'm sure that saw is great but it just isn't practical.

Yeah, speak for yourself mate. I couldn't imagine calling DeWalt/Milwaukee the Cadillac of power tools. Especially their mitre chopsaw. There are plenty of professional trim workers that are enthusiast and want the best tools for their livelihood -- just because you haven't seen/met any speaks volumes for the type of work you do or work around.

Reminds me of do-it-quick handymen just to collect a quick buck with shoddy work.

Insulting other people in the industry by insinuating they are "do-it-quick handymen just trying to collect a quick buck with shoddy work" is not really a good look. I hope you have a happy rest of your day and somebody does something that makes you smile, brother ✌️

You insinuated first that the people who actually spend $2000 on a mitre saw don't get anything done? I mean, you leave some back-handed ass comment and then get offended when someone else reciprocated your condescending vibe. You literally said, "Those of us that actually get stuff done don't spend $2000 on a miter saw. " the heck is that supposed to mean? LOL So get on with all that self-righteous bs, brother.

If your definition of 'Cadillac' for a mitre chopsaw is the DeWalt, then the Festool must be the Rolls-Royce tier. Get it how you live, my guy. Some people take their stuff seriously.

I always wanted a good quality miter. I use my 5 yr old Kobalt 12-in compound sliding miter saw a lot and the cuts are not perfect but it does the job.

Is it worth the investment? Is the price the lowest for this beauty?

How does this 780 compare to a Grizzly Pro T3 or BOSCH GCM12SD (or even their newer battery operated miter saws?)

Sure I could ask about Festool at over $1000 but why is it that expensive someone please tell me compared to the above. I am currently using my dads miter saw that's probably 30 years old with almost no features and it would be nice to finally upgrade.

I need stand for it. Which one do you recommend for DIYer? Wheels? Thanks

The DWX723 is my favorite. I prefer being able to take the stand and saw apart and store them separately. Works better when traveling to jobsites for me personally.

Last year I bought the DWS779 with stand for $299. I actually prefer the 779 over the 780 because that shadow line needs to be adjusted sometimes and my eyes don't.
The shadow line is created by the blade. Therefore it isn't adjustable because it's impossible for it to not be accurate. Whatever material is lit will remain and material in the shadow will be removed. It's not magic though it sure seems magical!

The DeWalt saw stand with wheels has been one of the few truly disappointing purchases in the DeWalt brand. If you read the reviews, a lot of folks have problems getting the stand to collapse. And removal of saw from stand requires tools which is really silly considering that DeWalt makes nice brackets for the other folding stands.
