I have a 3600, but I'm thinking of getting a 5800X3D. Would this be good for that CPU?

Does this use the clip for AM4? I have a Xigmatek Balder but the clip orientation blows up, instead of out the back; but don't want to take everything out to mount the bracket on the back of my mobo.

It's a fairly new cooler so not there isn't a whole lot of thorough testing on it from the major reviewers yet nor many product reviews. The 5800X3D doesn't have the type of 200+ watts peak power draw like the Intel CPUs, so it probably is fine.

But the $40-50 (US) CPU air cooler range is fairly competitive, typically the Thermalright coolers top the charts of most reviews. The Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 seems to be the top air cooler with both AMD and Intel CPUs and has models ranging from $38-50 on Amazon. If you're more conscious about Thermalright's long-term quality for their fans, then consider the Scythe Fuma 3 also tops many charts with CPUs that draw higher wattages at $50.

How's it compare to any Noctua cpu cooler? This seems like a good price, but whenever I think of CPU air coolers, its always Noctua that are recommended but they're so pricey.

I don't think there is much difference in the cooling unit. The thing Noctua is known for is their excellent fan's which are pushing quit a bid of air and a super quiet. You can just switch the fan's for Noctua ones like this one [amazon.com].

Also a very good cooler I can't post here on SD is Thermalright Peerless Assassin they are probably the best low cost cpu cooler but since Thermalright has like 3 or 4 different stores on Amazon and non of them has 750 feedback I can't post it here but you can search for it on Amazon. Starting at $32 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm4hyIHe1PM there is a good review for those as well.

I own a Thermalright Frost Spirit 150 I put in my wife's computer and I have 0 complains on top of that it was super cheap I paid $30 bucks for it October last year.

Either way they are all good coolers but Noctua and mayby Arctic Cooling do make the best fan's.

There's now a $15 dollar coupon that puts it at $25. And at that price, it definitely it probably is worth a look for the CPUs that aren't pulling in 200+ watts, where even if it doesn't cool as well as the Phantom Spirit or Peerless Assassin, it'll still get the job done.

I was going to suggest the Peerless Assassin too but didn't realize it's banned on here.

It's not banned its just that the sellers on Amazon have less than 750 feedback so it can't be promoted here. Kinda sucks because its a really good fan for a great price but you can't post the link here because of that.

I went with the thermalright BA120. 6 heat pipes and twin fans in a smaller footprint than the peerless assassin. Better form factor for anyone on an amd chip, generally speaking.
