Because tipping in America has tipped over into insanity zone. It's so pervasive that it elicits negative emotion in people whenever they see it. This culture is basically subsidizing the actual salaries that ought to get paid to the workers. Pay them more, much more, increase the menu price, service price and stop the tipping.

This works in Pinellas, Pasco, and Hillsborough counties not just in Pinellas.

While it's appreciable that businesses like Uber want to do good, I really wonder why couldn't they make this discount auto-apply for anyone and instead have to count on people to spread the word about this coupon code and manually add for this to work. Why should someone affected due to this hurricane go through this arguably convoluted process to benefit from the supposed goodwill of the businesses?

I assume it's for all the shelters in the county. I guess you can always try the code to see if it works.

"The discount only applies for rides to shelters in Hernando, Hillsborough, Leon, Manatee and Pinellas counties. The promo code must be applied before requesting the ride for discount to apply, according to Uber."

Not sure why people are disliking this . Uber / Lyft drivers don't get paid what people think. Crazy they are that cheap but want someone to drive them .

Driving a personal car with a random passenger is more dangerous than any other job that would ask you to tip tho man… what can't you comprehend? Theres levels to it. I've worked a lot of service jobs, when I valet I didn't expect a tip? So then what? When I'm driving using my gas. Putting my life on line( accidents happen every second) I think $1 wouldn't kill. Plus do you know there government programs that organize free Uber rides ? And they can't tip $1 lol…. Actually there's also an option to let your teenager drive with a random person as well. but yeah man agree to disagree . i do uber part time BTW

Why should anyone get a free ride anywhere? Oh no, a coupon code! I shouldn't have to do anything! In fact, Uber should just automatically send someone to my house to knock on my door and ask me if I would like a ride without me asking. Why should I have to download an app and create an account? That sounds so convoluted.
