FWIW, I've been told these are garbage. They can be modified to be used as a squirt gun albeit with a small tank.

This is for spraying cleaning chemicals. You probably would not have good luck with paint.

I had good luck modding my full size electrostatic to a squirt gun, while leaving two of the nozzles as actual sprayers. Not sure how well it would work on this model.
If you have a use for them, they work great. Otherwise its another thing to take up space.

I have this. It works fine if you use it properly. Looks like a lot of the bad reviews are from crazy people putting paint in it. If you're spraying light chemicals or water, and using for plants or light detail work, it works as it should.

Wonder if they would handle a wood stain?

It wouldn't apply evenly like a dedicated sprayer would. These apply a charged mist to the intended object, not a spray, usually resulting in uneven distribution.

Even with plain water it's not a uniform mist size, so you would have to end up brushing the stain anyway, assuming it even made it out of the sprayer.

After that, the cleanup would not be as simple as you'd like.

If these worked to spray stains/paint, you know for a fact they would have been marketed as such. Ryobi manufactured so many of these during the pandemic they are ridiculously cheap now. If it had the capacity for paint/stain they could double the price easily.

Anyone have experience with this and/or the .5L compact sprayer? I've seen a lot of not-so-great feedback on this sprayer but I'm wondering if the only difference is the size of the tank. The compact sprayer works well for my use (pesticide) but I could use a bigger tank.

I don't think any Ryobi cordless sprayers are advertised for paint so I wouldn't consider using it for that...

Direct tools outlet has sent me three of these over the last year or so, one with every order, and I don't know why. This or the fogger always seem to appear in the box. Might check there if interested.
