I've tried both brands in the past (generally speaking, not taking into acc w/ specific models). I liked Oral-b e-toothbrushes b/c of the tiny round brush head that rotates, makes it easier to brush the last molars all the way in the back vs Philip's traditional toothbrush shaped head and its vibrations. Vibrations made my face itchy like hundreds of ants crawling. The rotation from Oral-B gave less tingly sensation and soon my face got used to it and i don't feel any itchiness anymore.

The description didn't mention 2 speeds but If it's exactly like what i own, then it should have 2 speeds. I think the slower speed is good for kids but i generally use the higher speed but it still doesn't feel overwhelmingly fast. I sometimes unknowingly use the slower speed and it still seems to clean adequately but the higher speed makes me feel more at peace. The single power button makes it so that you have rotate between high, low, off setting every time. (subjectively: high speed felt more like "normal" not overwhelming power, low speed felt like slightly below "normal" power)

Edit 8/31/23: I was wrong, my shipment just arrived and apologies but it doesn't have 2 speeds, just 1. Guess my old one I own looks the same but isn't exactly. It has "2 modes" printed above the power button on mine but the Walmart one shows "Timer". The power feels adequate but I know there's higher speed models out there.

Thanks, OP. I have been looking for a basic Oral-B toothbrush too.

I was enticed by the $15 Walmart cash offer when you buy 2, so I ended up purchasing 2 black toothbrushes (I didn't see the offer on the pink or white).

Keeping it on the charger permanently while not in use is an option but you're just accelerating the decline of the battery.
That has not been my experience. I keep mine on the charger most of the time and have not noticed any decline of battery.
I also, maybe once a year or every other year, completely discharge the battery per instructions:
Quote :
To maintain the maximum capacity of the rechargeable battery, unplug the charging unit and fully discharge the handle with regular use at least every 6 months.
That discharge takes quite a long time for my unit, maybe 30 minutes

I let mine discharge with use not recharging regularly. Recharging from near full charge to full regularly is very hard on the battery. Requiring the highest voltage.

Battery lasts for years.

Not a Walmart plus member and got the Walmart cash offer on the black one. At this price, great deal for a travel toothbrush and one for a gift. Will use the 6000s from the other deal at home. Thanks OP.

been using the old school Sonicare for many years ... always on the charger but battery hasnt diminished ...
just bought the Oral B Smart Clean coupon special for 2pk for $70 after coupon at store

havent used it yet... wondering if i should buy this instead ??

i only brush once a day but professionally clean every 3-4months and every time the dentist tells me that I need to get under the gums more when brushing to better address the frequent plaques appearing closer to gum lines ....

i would think that the rotating motion and smaller head of the Oral B does a better job of getting under the gum lines and cleaning the harder to reach back teeth..??
Sounds like you got it from costco, i bought it too, motor is obnoxiously loud, brushing performance seems fine. Add on the extra useless (to me) brush settings made it not worth the premium price. I'm gonna give this model a try. At worst I can just return it at local store.

Started W+ on one of my throwaway accounts, bought 2 with $15 cashback offer. Will return 1 later. Stacked with portal and Chase 10% I had on one of my Freedom cards. OK price for 2 brush heads after all is said and done.

Make sure you screenshot the $15 offer just in case. I've seen W+ cash offers not work (mostly with grocery where item is out of stock the first time you order).

That very much depends on implementation.
For example, assuming lithium battery, if they only charge to 80-90% while on stand, there is no harm keeping it on charger. If they always charge to 100% then yes, it will harm battery in the long run.

yes Costco deal

i also dont buy too much into brush settings etc ... most of those are all just Marketing gimicks companies come up with to sell variations of the same ol rotating brush ..!!
i think i'll just grab this deal since i only need one brush anyways.. just to see if the rotating motion of OralB would work better than my good ol sonicare been using for years..!!?

btw

Wondering if the extra brush heads i bought at Costco would work on this wal mart model..?

Spotted Harris Teeter has a house brand that I'll try if I ever run out.

Try brushing twice a day and use Plackers dual line floss.

Is this the same as Oral-B Pro 500?

The thing is Oral-B does not list the speed in the spec. I own both the 500 and 1000 and I believe 500 is noticeably slower. Slower means less brushing. I would not buy a 500 again.

Having said that, I wish they sell a toothbrush without the charging unit. I already have 2+ spares.

While it work well at first the lack of battery indicator is a pain. It would die midway through a brushing session. Keeping it on the charger permanently while not in use is an option but you're just accelerating the decline of the battery.

I've been leaving my Oral-B on the charger for more than 15 years. I've replaced the battery once in that time for about $10 after about 8 years of use. It probably didn't even need that, but I saw a youtube video on how to replace it, and so I decided to refresh the battery. I don't think it is really worth worrying about the battery health as it's a cheap ni-mh to replace.

The brushes also have less power when they are partially discharged, so I'd rather just have and optimal performing brush by keeping it charged.
