This one is the 45L, which seems to be taller, have more fans, and maybe different cooling with the cryo chamber. I'm not sure what other differences there may be.

You can only use their own ram at full speed, since the bios will downclock any other manufacturers. Even enabling various modes in the bios only gave me an error boot screen and was a headache to reset.
Applications will continually re-enable or reinstall themselves (the HP suite, like the Omen/Gaming/Lighting optimizer programs) if you disable or uninstall them.
The side panel pops off very nicely (which I loved!) But trying to upgrade stuff? You need to take out the graphics card to get to the SSD slots.
Randomly overnight it will upgrade the actual bios firmware (which you might not want to do!). Ever need to send it to HP? You need to send it back in factory condition (removing any added hardware you may have installed, and installing the defaults - like the HDD/SSD and Ram)
The 45L may be different. I love my 40L still, but it's been lot of weird little issues. If you look at the HP Omen forums or reddit, you'll find lots of people who have run into these quirks and looking for solutions still.
The built and thermals are amazing. I play MSFS on it and there are no problems with thermals which has a lot to do with the case design. The LED lighting is all in sync and looks really nice.
I spent about $200 doing upgrades:
Updated RAM to 32GB: Kingston KF552C40BBAK2-16 $85
Added 2TB SSD with heat sink about $120.
This is a pretty good deal IMO.
