Last year some kids accidentally set fire to some brush next to my garage. I had four fire extinguishers, three of which were expired. The non-expired one was the only one that failed, so save your old ones. Also, they hold a lot less than you think. If you can fit a larger one somewhere, buy a larger one.

I recommend keeping them at exits. If there's a fire, get out first, then assess if you want to go back in or get help or whatever. I keep one just outside my workshop and just outside my kitchen. It doesn't have to be the building exit, it can be the fire-risky room's exit.
Aim at the base of the flame, not at the 'fire', and use a sweeping back and forth motion. Never put the flame between you and the exit. Know what your extinguisher is rated to do and, more importantly, what it is not.

No water on a grease fire- extinguisher or smother with something preferably not flammable. No water on an electrical fire- kill your power, verify power is out, then troubleshoot accordingly.

Oh, something about eating your vitamins...

Limit of one for me on the Tundra, maybe due to low Podunk inventory, so I added the 2.75# garage extinguisher.

IS MY PUNCTUATION CORRECT?

Any risk associated with these things getting too hot sitting in our vehicles?
Or on the flip side when our vehicles dip below 0* in the winter?

Tried to order the 14oz Tundra spray, all, Ace hardwares in my area don't have it available, and show ship to store date varied, as early as Sept 5th and up to Sept 8th in the change store pop down. when you pick a store you can pick the amount, but is says not available, for all, store pick, ship to store for even home delivery. Guess item is out of stock already.Great deal if you got it.

According to Kidde, "Kidde fire extinguishers should be stored in temperatures ranging from -40 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Fire extinguishers stored below -40 degrees Fahrenheit may result in the extinguisher's valve or hose cracking. At temperatures above 120 degrees, the fire extinguisher will still function, but the discharge time may be a little shorter than the 9 to 10 seconds required by Underwriters Laboratories UL."
https://www.kidde.com/home-safety...shers.html

My car regularly gets above 120ºF, and it still worked when I needed it. If that happens, it's best to keep it insulated somehow. For example, if you keep a blanket in your car, wrap it in the blanket. It will dampen the temperature extremes. If the car goes between 80ºF at night and 140ºF during the day then the insulated fire extinguisher may see temperatures between 100ºF and 120ºF.

Any recommendations on which to choose for the kitchen? Looks like Tundra EZ, Kitchen, and HOME1 would all work.

Just don't buy one without a gauge. How are you going to know if it's charged or depleted?
