I typically spend about $25 DIY for full synthetic. It takes me less time to DIY then to drive to the shop and wait.

Well if your vehicle takes ~ 5 qts then with this deal you're paying about $13 for the oil, then probably $7 or 8 for the filter (I buy Purolator from Amazon and for my vehicles they are $8 plus they are eligible for S&S), so all in for consumables it's like $20ish. If you value your time (will basically always be quicker to DIY when you consider driving to a place then waiting), and you have the tools and space, yeah it still makes sense.

I wouldn't try to save a couple of bucks by buying from them. Just get a good filter from your local store. I've bought parts from them and the old addage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here.

How so? The filers at RA are the same ones the local store sells. Just cheaper.

I am a mechanic and have cut open 100's of filters. The ones I use in my shop, and my vehicles, all came from RAs economy section.

This, the fram orange can is often best priced from Amazon S&S but if I am ordering from RA I can stock up on luberfiner jobber filters for like $1.25 each, work fine with my OCI of 4-6k depending on the car.

I go to Menards when they have their yearly instant 15% off bag sale and stock up on Purolator One's. They also have the Purolator Boss but I don't think that's necessary for a daily driver.
