I typically spend about $25 DIY for full synthetic. It takes me less time to DIY then to drive to the shop and wait.

Well if your vehicle takes ~ 5 qts then with this deal you're paying about $13 for the oil, then probably $7 or 8 for the filter (I buy Purolator from Amazon and for my vehicles they are $8 plus they are eligible for S&S), so all in for consumables it's like $20ish. If you value your time (will basically always be quicker to DIY when you consider driving to a place then waiting), and you have the tools and space, yeah it still makes sense.

Is it still worth to do your own oil change nowadays? I called a dealer near me and it's $100 for an oil change!
A full syn change is $45-65 at walmart.
Direct injection needs closer to 5k change.

Used Kirkland oil in a 2016 Toyota Highlander last oil change. Started noticing a little engine tap at idle after putting some miles on it. I know there's data out there that says all the synthetic oils are similar but I'm going back to pennzoil ultra on my next change.
oil is the same, the oil filter is not

Why does DI need more frequent changes?

I have a question for the car pros here.

If my car has been on traditional oil for ever (100k miles), is it bad to switch to full synthetic now? I heard switching to full synthetic after your car has been on conventional oil will cause leak because synthetic is smaller molecules than conventional and will "slip" through all the tiny cracks.
this depends on the engine type and model.syn oil is great for high mileage and long commutes. especially if drive car with fz toyota engine. i top mine off every 3-6 months

at 100k-150k miles there will some oil leaks, you can buy new seals at the next overhaul.

If there's a Costco Business center nearby 1qt x 6 bottles costs 17.99 after $5 off. Sale is valid until 10/1.

cuz more oil containment into the direct injection, theres more stress and carbon build up.It less the car manual recommend if you actually get your oil tested.

port and DI engine have a bigger intervals changes . port only engine has the longest involve.

DI engine change well below 3k-5k miles especially with a turbo
PI engine change to close 7.5k-8.5k miles. 10k-15k change causes excessive wear

They do not sell 5-20w instore.
Incorrect. The store I just went to had 5w20 but no 0w20. And if you are just picking on his nomenclature/spelling you know what he meant.

If you leave in California check Free Oil Filter Exchange Program. Bring used oil filters to O'Reilly or Autozone and get a new ones. I do have Costco Membership but never bought the Kirkland oil because there are much better deals if you do not mind doing rebates (mostly Mobil and Pennzoil).

My 3.0 Porsche Diesel takes 8L (8.45 qts) and I thought that was too much :-) Oh well, ....of course no Costco oil for my baby, simply LiquiMoly
Do you track you Cayenne? Or otherwise get the oil temps above 230*F?

Never! They stay at 200 once warmed up.

No 5W-20 in my local Costcos. They've all switched to 5W-30 and 0W-20 only.
0W20 and 5W20 have the same viscosity at operating temp. 0W is a little bit thinner when cold but still thicker than it is at operating temp. It is actually direct/better replacement for 5W20. Because it is thinner it will reach operating temp faster, base stock is usually better and in freezing temps (-35 F or colder) it might make a difference between start or no start.
