As someone who sold bike for 20+ years, this is a very good deal on an entry-level bike. Oddly enough, my favorite part about this bike is the lack of disc brakes. Cheap disc brakes are a liability, and heavy. Basic caliper brakes will do you well for the vast majority of your riding.

This bike will be more than enough to discover if you like road cycling, and should handle weekend riding and the occasional commute just fine. The weak spots are the weight, rear derailleur, and likely the quality of the wheelset. Those are not disqualifying, just something to be aware of. A better rear derailleur will run ~$30, and you can actually get some nice wheels for less than $200 if you decide to upgrade.

If you buy this, please consider having a real bike shop build it. It will be expensive, but worth it. The parts on this bike are such that they will actually hold adjustment well if set by professionals. This is a marked improvement over big box bikes from Target, Walmart etc that are hot garbage at $180.

I would say so, the tourney group of parts is mainly used for mass production chain stores. You hardly see the tourney shimano in your regular bike shop, but it will get you on the road pedaling. If you are expecting to tackle a lot of steep inclines, you may want to look into something better and more reliable, but you will not beat this price. 200$ is cheap even for an economy bike.
The main issue you may run into is sizing, more expensive bikes fine tune their sizing with more options. If you purchase this bike, I would look into how to properly adjust the seat to fine tune your riding position.

I can't see the shifters clearly. Does anyone know how the shifters work?

And, when do you find out whether your bike will come with Shimano or Microshift derailleurs?

The shifters are on the brake levers, which is nice.

You probably find out about the derailleur when it gets delivered.

Steel frame 28lbs isn't light but that doesn't matter so much for entry level bike.

Adding laborday25 cpn and the price is 134. I might get this one instead.

That's a good price for this bike - the biggest concern is the tire size 25mm...recommend you try one out - 25mm is barely ridable these days IMHO - I can't imagine how folks were riding 19-23mm for decades. Looking at the photos I don't think you can upgrade the tires - the clearances don't look good for anything larger.

An aluminum frame would save you what, 3 lbs? For perspective, this is a beginner's bike. Meaning 3 lbs is more easily lost off of the body of the rider than the bike itself. No one is doing a century ride on a bike like this, or competing in a triathlon. It's a ton of bike for $180, no tax, free shipping. I ride a $3000 Felt Road Bike but I am getting this for my wife for the less than dozen times a year that she wants to go on a ride with me and the kids.

Giordano is also selling the Giordano Aversa road bike (aluminum) for $153.99. Some people prefer steel bikes as it is supposed to be little bit more comfortable in handling the bumps. I remember Wilee (actor Josepth Gordon-Levitt) in the bike movie "Premium Rush" saying he has to ride steel frame bikes over aluminum bikes.

Giordano road bikes?
Aversa $154
Acciao $180
Libero $220 <-- Aluminum frame.... With Shimano Claris or Microshift R8. I would assume one would get the R8 though. Does it get the job done which is the important thing? I don't want to automatically rule out Microshift because their reviews have been pretty solid from what I read from customers.

If it was me and I had to pick out of the three, I would go for the Libero as the gap between the prices aren't that far off. Acciao is my 2nd choice. I actually like the Acciao blue paint job better. Great deals because those prices can't be found on road bikes from other brands.

Meh... It's ok. Aim for a gravel bike these days with at least 28 inch tires. It'll ride much better and allow for more use.
Apples and oranges. Road bikes, hybrid bikes, gravel bikes, etc.

What gravel bike do you like for $150-220?

I say go for a hybrid bike if you want a more versatile bike or had to pick 1 style bike and especially for a more comfortable rider position. I definitely ride my hybrid the most out of my bikes (hybrid, mountain and road). I also have a road bike that I like to use for its speed. Gravel bikes are really designed for gravel roads and for the road biker who wants to ride on the gravel roads. Gravel bikes will cost more than these bikes on sale. I wouldn't take a road bike to a gravel road and I kind of know that a gravel bike or mountain bike isn't the ideal bike on the road for obvious reasons.

Giordano Trieste Gravel bike is on sale for $240.

Giordano H1 hybrid bike is on sale for $264.

I know this is entry level, but it's a crazy good deal even so. I can't even find a pawn shop Walmart road bike at this price (not that I would want to buy such a thing.)
