Good luck in some states. My homie got picked up by the Michigan State Police for having a blade like this in the glove box while we were in the UP. Got stopped for speeding, MSP smelled marijuana (we don't smoke) and did a search.

Under Michigan law, the following knives cannot be conceal carried:
Double-edged, non-folding (fixed-blade) stabbing instrument of any length

This thing sucks. Full tang? As if! It tastes nothing like the breakfast drink I grew up with.

According to American Knife & Tool Institute [akti.org]: double-edged fixed-blade knives or "double-edged non-folding stabbing instruments" are profoundly disfavored in Michigan per 750.227. It is a felony punishable by imprisonment of up to 5 years and a fine not to exceed $2,500 to carry any "dagger, dirk, stiletto, double-edged, non-folding stabbing instrument" concealed. The same prohibition also applies to the possession of such items "in any vehicle operated or occupied by the person," whether or not the knife is accessible.
Plus it was securely wrapped in a paper lunch sack with the words "NOT A DAGGER" written on the side in black sharpie

Huh, the great nanny state of NY is actually allowing me to order this through Amazon. Discovered several years ago that Amazon would not ship folding knives to NY addresses and assumed it was all knives.

I picked one up just because of the deal and that it is allowed. Shipping not until second week of October, however.

If it was full tang, I would bite. Most of the breaks in the review photos makes it seem like the blade sits very shallow in the handle.

Can you fight off a mountain lion with this? I want something to carry on a solo hike/backpacking that I never ever plan to use. Already carry a bear spray.
The first reviews with pictures show you can bend the blade with just a light thumb pressure.
Who needs weapons? I remember a story in this book ( https://www.amazon.com/Scouts-Boo...B000NUKWT6 ) about a guy who just punched his fist deep into the mountain lion's throat and suffocated it. Gnarly!

As a former knife seller, this blade has been around for at least two decades now. In the 90s, this was a 9.99 special during the holidays. It's a gimmick stocking stuffer at best. Tip bends easily. Blade won't hold an edge. Even today's inflation and price increases, this price is not worth it. ... when it comes to knives, buy right the first time. Stop throwing money at crap only for it to be shoved in the back of a drawer once it becomes rubbish. .. same principle as measure twice, cut once.

Did you find that book in the fiction section ? Mountain lion's teeth are designed to tear flesh efficiently. Put your whole arm in it's mouth and at the very least it's teeth will go straight to the bone. Even if you can manage to keep the arm in it's mouth it still has two paws full of claws tearing at you while it's teeth shreads the arm to the bone. There is a good chance it will eventually sever that arm way before it asphyxiates. Even without severing the arm, just cutting to the bone will incur blood loss that I doubt would be survivable. That book written in 1934 feels like a tall tale rather than non fiction. This book, "The Boy Scouts Year Book. Stories of Brave Boys and Fearless Men" was a collection of stories written for the boy scouts of america, it was written as propaganda for teenaged boys to glorify the outdoors and get more boys to sign up for the scouts. I bet this is just as much of a pile of fantasy stories like modern day publications aimed at teen boys. I'll believe this story when I believe that thunder and lightning is caused by Paul Bunion and babe his blue ox playing in the rain.
