Side sleeper with 3 years of use and I still love this (Disco 15) sleeping bag. I'm very tempted to buy a womens version because I use it with the Nemo Dragonfly tent which exits on your right hand side and the sleeping bag (male) has a left hand zipper which is kind of annoying. Good news is they designed them (male & female) to zip together. Down side is the ladies version is a bit heavier, so be warned if you're hike-thru camper or an ultra lightweight person cuttin your toothbrush in half to save weight. I paid full price and don't regret a second of it.

Anybody that has a bigger frame that can comment on fit?

I'm 6'1", 250lbs and just have a broad chest and frame

My son has a Nemo Forte. Great bag for him and got it for a crazy price at a moosejaw warehouse sale. I would not be able to fit in it comfortably but curious how much extra room the tall gives. Jealous of how small and light his bag gets.

Does it really make that much of a difference? I am a side sleeper as well and hate the current sleeping bag's (Kelty Cosmic 20) comfort for anything but sleeping on your back.

My main use is backpacking. The weights seem similar.

If you have REI membership just get it and return it if you don't like it. My wife uses this bag for backpacking and it's bigger and heavier than we would like though it does seem to help for side sleepers. But i would argue having a nice but lightweight inflatable sleeping pad makes a bigger difference.

I am going to purchase this and find out of it does really make that much of a difference. I am a light sleeper and have a hard time as is getting a good night rest between grueling hikes. It's worth a shot based on the reviews and this being REI. I was thinking of going backpacking this weekend anyway. Incentive to grab this and test it out.

Good point, will do that. I am using a Tensor Alpine Ultralight Mountaineering Pad, which I recently upgraded from the NEMO Tensor normal edition.

Not sure what year Forte he has but current Forte models list the shoulder width at 59 inches for regular mens model/ 66 inches for long.

The Disco lists shoulder widths of 64 inches for regular models and 66 inches for the long.

Stupid question: are these deigned for winter? I'm in CA and haven't camped before but want to start camping during all seasons. More into camping spots near the lot etc (not hike + camp)

Certainly not. Even with an R-5+ pad, you'll be cold, but you'll survive. For most, the comfort temp will be 10-15 degrees F higher than the rated temp.

Based on reviews you may want to get a women's bag, as they're generally warmer. But the short answer is, no. Bags tend to have ratings that are 5-10 degrees off from what will really be comfortable.
