It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990

You laugh but he is correct. The model S Plaid is one of the fastest production cars made so far. Can you name another sedan under $100K that do 0-60 in 2 seconds?
Closest ICE car I can even think is 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Price: $187,400
0- 60: 2.6 seconds

I have Model 3 Performance and can tell you for sure the instant power is hard to beat. Its a huge achievement of automotive engineering for sure.

In a straight line.

I think youre right. Only the Base Model X with no add ons would seem to qualify. At least the all the color options are free.
You're buying an $80k vehicle making below $150k magi?

We bought a used 2018 75D X early last year for the same price as a new one now. I sorta feel like as if I invested in bitcoin. Resale value just tanked for sure.
Ditto. Still good car but not gonna hold value like before especially with the steep cuts

Depends on other finances.

Not that we're buying a new X, but I could. Our mortgage is super low thanks to incredibly lucky good timing of purchase and refinancing at a record low rate. No student loan debt, etc.

Funny story: my mother had a fully paid off Mercedes C-300 (2015 I believe). Ran like a dream, no problems.

She then becomes enamored by the Model S, so she sells the C-300 and pays ballpark 8k to get one. This was right before the previous price decrease, which was only a few months ago. She hates it. Cool technology, no gas, but she misses her Mercedes deeply (regardless of the price cut she barely missed).

Moral of the story: if you're interested in a Tesla, be sure to test drive it first and understand what the tradeoffs are. Additionally, wait as long as humanly possible to get it, because a huge price decrease can very well just be around the corner.

I'd personally recommend not getting one at all, though.
I test drove mine, but still hating it. You can't get the whole feel in few test drives.

Now you're categorizing.
Is it the fastest car ever made? No.
Is it the fastest production car ever made? No.
Is it the fastest production sedan under $100k from the Factory? Possibly if you don't count the Demon 170 which is a coupe.

Also what you classify as fast isn't the same thing as I do. 0-60 doesn't mean fast to me, it's quick. Quick to get up to speed. Fast is something that can do a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, or top speed. I don't disagree that instant power is great, I was just pointing out the stupidness of saying it was "the fastest car ever made." I've got an Audi S4 that gets 3.2 0-60's with just a simple OTS tune, they just don't come that way from the factory.
Exactly what I was thinking, how did it go from fastest car ever made, to a very specific category of vehicle.

Also fast by what standards? Straight line performance only? When I think of a fast car, I think about what's the speed/time when you send it around a track. Testing the overall acceleration, braking, and cornering abilities.

You're just being ridiculous, the plaid has a sub 2s 0-60 and a sub 9 1/4mi, that is the quickest/fastest production car ever made. Nobody cares about the car you built in your garage or what an S4 with a tune can do. I don't even like tesla but I'm going to knock their build quality, phantom breaking, ownership, etc. not the speed.
The Rimac Nivera is faster but it's 2.5M
