If you're making, i don't know, $200k, then your time is worth $100/hr, and it would be hard to save that much clicking on stuff everyday.
Folks don't get rich by spending full price. You get rich by saving both time and money
I placed an order on 8/27/2023 for a MX at $100,880 before any discounts. From my MVPA. at that time:
As of 8/31/2023 and an updated, the price was reduced to $80,880.
There are no "inventory" discounts that I can see at this time, but both the main web site for S/X new vehicle purchases, and existing inventory are showing such a reduction. This includes the LR and Plaid models.
Please note:
* Tesla has revamped things so you cannot take a vehicle from one State and try to have it delivered to another (registration) for that custom build
* Certain States and locations offer discounts on EVs, like NJ which doesn't charge sales tax.
* There are taxable benefits for business owners, along with deductions for vehicles under certain price points ($80K) but check w/ the professionals on this one if you qualify

Honestly, as a guy who has two 3000GTs in my garage... the Plaid has insane price to performance. If I could afford one, I would do it.

Why are we even talking about it?

I make about 200k.... I have a small need footprint and don't have many bills. I find myself buying things I didn't know I needed because I can save 20/50 bucks I found here. Show me a slick deal on a DeWalt tool and I am gonna buy it if I can come with some way I can possibly use it (even theoretically - ask my three year old belt sander still in the manufacturer packaging!). By the time I pay for the gas to drive to Home Depot pick up the tool.... I may not get any savings at all. But I enjoyed the hunt and it made me do something of value (besides working on building a better mousetrap in my paid gigs). Even if it's just imagining what I might do with the object of my imaginations. If they paid me $100+ an hour for all my waking hours to refrain from trolling the latest tool and tech deal on Slickdeals.... I suppose I'd refrain because it made economic sense. But they don't. So I don't. And if we turn it into a survey of whether I'm making rational economic calculations with every minute I have... I would lose. I play games on my phone sometimes and it is a complete waste of time.
My time is worth more than what I save.... for sure. But I derive a lot of value and I enjoy the hunt... and that is worth something. I won't give up 100 bucks an hour to do it, but in my downtime, I love looking for the tool or toy that I didn't know that I needed.
If you're interested in filling some of my time with more economically viable ways to kill time... reach out. I am smarter and more diligent than any department of devs you've ever run across. I am the best project manager on wheels because I can't be BS'ed and I can do all the work myself if I have to. In the meanwhile.... I have more awake time than I have clients paying for it. They wrongly assume I want to do something other than solve problems.
When I have down time... I shop for new tools/toys or go use the newest ones. I think I might need a plaid. But first I have to find out what one is! 🤣
