It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Many folks who don't earn w2 income over 300k can afford this car...

Now you're categorizing.
Is it the fastest car ever made? No.
Is it the fastest production car ever made? No.
Is it the fastest production sedan under $100k from the Factory? Possibly if you don't count the Demon 170 which is a coupe.

Also what you classify as fast isn't the same thing as I do. 0-60 doesn't mean fast to me, it's quick. Quick to get up to speed. Fast is something that can do a 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, or top speed. I don't disagree that instant power is great, I was just pointing out the stupidness of saying it was "the fastest car ever made." I've got an Audi S4 that gets 3.2 0-60's with just a simple OTS tune, they just don't come that way from the factory.

You intentionally bought a slow expensive Volkswagen then had to spend more money trying to fix it with software. I agree what you think of a fast isn't the same as others.

EVs are not for everyone, but an absolute game changer for me. Picked up a MYP about 1 and a half years ago and put over 30k miles on it (mostly around NJ) as a daily driver. When I got it, I was a little skeptical about Teslas and EVs in general, but its been awesome. I will never go back to a gas DD. I am a car guy through and through... I still have my ICE weekend toys in the garage, but as a daily, the Tesla is perfect. My only complaint was the size and suspension on the MYP... when the MX prices dropped yesterday, I couldn't resist the upgrade and placed an order.

The value of my old X will drop $20K now too. So I "locked in" trade-in value at Carvana (good for 7 days) and Tesla (good for 30 days). For now, it's slightly MORE than estimated a while ago, but the 3rd party price-ers can be a bit behind. I'd recommend that to anyone on the fence of considering buying a new car now who owns an old X/S. Your equity is gonna plummet in a few days.
Add in free FSD transfer ($12K), $7.5K tax credit, and of course the $20K drop in price, and I had to pull the trigger on a new new. Literally $40K off. Damn you Tesla.

I recently saw an MKBHD video for the NEW fastest car ever made - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF9xYtouZjY
LOL MKBHD is the best! At 3:09 mark his face is hilarious, I read WTF on his lips.
Another insanely fast electric car 0-60 in 1.74s and quarter mile in 8.3 EEK!
RIP ICEHa ha

The X should start at 65 and the S at 60.

Current prices are way too high for what you get. The Y LR gets the same range while having the same interior space.

The S and the X never made sense to me and continue to be overpriced compared to their own lineup.

They should stop producing X and S and focus on mass vehicles . Cyber truck is long due with 2m orders pending . X and S vehicles total only 2% of total volume. They are only noise and no use for equity. Better at least separate them into Tesla luxury brand like how legacy automakers do !

You laugh but he is correct. The model S Plaid is one of the fastest production cars made so far. Can you name another sedan under $100K that do 0-60 in 2 seconds?
Closest ICE car I can even think is 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Price: $187,400
0- 60: 2.6 seconds

I have Model 3 Performance and can tell you for sure the instant power is hard to beat. Its a huge achievement of automotive engineering for sure.

Not to be that guy, but 'fastest car ever made' is not the same as 'one of the fastest' and definitely not the same as 'fastest sedan'. Top speed of 160's is cool, especially for the price point, but not even sniffing that title.

Not hating on the car, I've been an early adopter of S and X, and this is an amazing deal. Just gotta pump the brakes on the hype.

I have a question. What happens 3 or 4 years down the line when the battery health is down like the phones we use. Do you pay to get the batteries replaced or is there some kind of coverage? Been wanting to get an EV but holding myself back thinking what happens next.
At 3 years my iphone 12 battery life is garbage and I'm constantly running out of battery and looking for a piggyback charge.

At at almost 4 years my Model 3 went down from 250 mile range to 233 miles. Almost NOTHING has changed in my worry or behavior from day 1 as far as range anxiety. Still operates as if day 1.

See the difference?

Glad I got my Plaid on release. $18k price drop in a day?! That's not their typical grand or two drop that stings but is easy to get over. I don't know how I'd handle this if I'd have picked one up recently
Same. I also have a 2022 x. I've been buying Tesla a while, but these price games are worse than used car lot tactics. They have no issue screwing over recent buyers, existing customers, and even future buyers with price manipulation, feature changes, deceptive behavior, and even all out lies on capabilities of their products. This price change is the last straw for me. The brand is not worth it at all.

Agreed

All this talk about 0-60/fastest car, and not one person cares about braking or handling. It's a bit silly. I don't care how fast my car is, if I can't immediately slow it down or keep it under control in high speed corners or maneuvers.
