It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

You laugh but he is correct. The model S Plaid is one of the fastest production cars made so far. Can you name another sedan under $100K that do 0-60 in 2 seconds?
Closest ICE car I can even think is 2023 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
2021 Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Price: $187,400
0- 60: 2.6 seconds

I have Model 3 Performance and can tell you for sure the instant power is hard to beat. Its a huge achievement of automotive engineering for sure.

You do know the taycan is an EV right?

0-60 is also only a single metric for speed so calling it the fastest production car from that is subjective. Bugatti and other hyper cars have much higher top speeds which you could also measure.

Also the plaid only reaches that 0-60 speed with A LOT of caveats. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/06/2...index.html

Totally agree with you. I like the look of the Corvette. It looks fast and it sounds fast and I can see the emotion coming from the car.
Well, In my memory, I've smoked some Chevy Corvettes and Camaros like SS, ZL1 models with V8 Hemi engine or what not with my Tesla not even a Plaid model.
They all appeared in my rear view mirror. The drivers in those cars can defiantly fill the heritage with regrets unless they are so emotionally attached to their cars.
I mean you aren't going to smoke a C8 corvette in any Tesla but a Plaid, the new C8 is a whole different beast than the previous generations of corvette. I'm was personally just close to grabbing a model S normal model but couldn't justify the price versus what the Corvette offered, but if the Plaid were there at the same price I would have went electric..maybe.

We bought a used 2018 75D X early last year for the same price as a new one now. I sorta feel like as if I invested in bitcoin. Resale value just tanked for sure.
I sold my Bitcoin at 60k to buy a Tesla which went up in value

you're just front loading the CO2 emissions so get it all over with quicker and then over the life of the car you end up with less CO2 than an ICE.
That entirely depends on the percent of renewable power in the electric grid you are charging from. If that grid has mostly coal based power or in some cases, even natural gas power, then the net result is that for the overall environment, the electric cars are not beneficial. Most people think they are going green by buying electric but that is a fallacy. My neighbor did the best possible thing for the environment for his transportation needs - he installed solar panels and bought a Tesla. He is truly driving green. But that is not true for most other buyers.
Imo, Tesla is the new iPhone - people willing to pay lot more for perceived benefit as well as as an ornament. It is a show off purchase within my friends circle.

EVs aren't for everyone. Parents with kids, who need quick refueling, filling up $5 EV in 1 hour, and think they will patiently wait till you fill, is not awesome. Charging infrastructure is not there yet, so making adjustments to your plan according to charging infrastructure is not awesome. Range Anxiety is not awesome. Poor build quality, build material, bad suspension, and overpriced cars aren't awesome. A Tesla Model Y owner, who thought Tesla could be his only and primary car.
Tesla and EVs for sure not for everyone. To me, my take, EV owner should
1. Own a home and have dedicated parking for charging
2. Have a home charger (have a 220V 60A)
3. Have solar
Ibeen EV owner since 2014 with the Nissan Leaf, 2x, Chevy Bolt and now Model Y. I don't use SC, only keep it as just in case and always charge at home. Love EVs as a daily car and not buying another ICE car. Do have ICE vehicle but uts a Class B camper van we use for roadtrips, technically my home/office on wheels.

I have the Model Y LR, waiting for the Model 3 Highland pre-order. Now I'm thinking Model X! $7500 tax credit, $1K referral credit and $27K Section 179 tax loophole (SCorp) business owner. YMMV and Slickdeal?
What is this section 179 hack?

The pricing is absolutely stupid.. They should have made X 77k.. Almost everyone would add yoke stearing and 22" wheels to stay under 80k and get credit while also getting some extra

Funny story: my mother had a fully paid off Mercedes C-300 (2015 I believe). Ran like a dream, no problems.

She then becomes enamored by the Model S, so she sells the C-300 and pays ballpark 8k to get one. This was right before the previous price decrease, which was only a few months ago. She hates it. Cool technology, no gas, but she misses her Mercedes deeply (regardless of the price cut she barely missed).

Moral of the story: if you're interested in a Tesla, be sure to test drive it first and understand what the tradeoffs are. Additionally, wait as long as humanly possible to get it, because a huge price decrease can very well just be around the corner.

I'd personally recommend not getting one at all, though.
Why all these thumbs down? Test driving before you buy is a bad thing?

Have they fixed the shoddy build quality of the interior, or do people not care anymore?
some improvements but not bad enough for people to care.

It's based on MSRP. So no won't qualify. I wanted the 6 or 7 seater neither qualifies. So ev9 it is.

Glad I got my Plaid on release. $18k price drop in a day?! That's not their typical grand or two drop that stings but is easy to get over. I don't know how I'd handle this if I'd have picked one up recently
I have a feeling that the recent investigation will deem all Model S's and X's a fire hazard and those who buy today later will also be Musked. The only reason I say that is coz most "no reason fires" on the news were Model S.
