It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Another comment, why would anyone buy a Tesla? Aren't we in deflation right now? If I wait, the price will drop. Inventory increases so they drop prices further?

They're pricing these like playstations. If you want it first, pay a premium. As it gets more common/older or a new version is due out, the original one gets reduced in price?
You can buy an Iphone 15 with USB C which will come out in few weeks when Iphone 25 is announced. You can always wait for years and years till many electronic items lose their value. You can buy a Tesla right before you say good bye to this world? lol.

Great deal for sure, sucks for those that purchased around $120k a year ago though, oof!

If you want to purchase a new or used Tesla, don't forget to use someone's referral code to get another $1000 off and free 3 months of Full self driving.
U can use your own referral in the app and it will give u 1000 off and 20k tesla credits

Damn. I just looked at the value of hellcats and GT-Rs, theyre insanely high still for 5 year old cars. They have almost no depreciation because theres always people who want fast cars. If i buy a plaid for $90k theres zero doubt in my mind i can sell it for $60k in 5 years.

Plaid has over 1000hp and its the most reliable 1000hp you can buy. Imagine thinking in 2028 that you will have trouble selling a 1000hp car for less than $60,000

In 2028 a 5 series with 300hp and no autopilot is going to cost $60,000. Boggles the mind.
Youre missing the desirability of those cars vs plaid. As an analogy- let's compare a fine/rare mechanical watch vs a smartwatch.

The smartwatch has way more features but is simplistic in nature.. it's a high volume produced circuit board and OLED screen, a couple sensors and thats it. Becomes outdated quickly, disposable once the latest chip/revision released. Doesnt hold any value really long term.

The mechanical watch has a lot more moving parts, but its desired because of craftsmanship, looks, noise (if you listen closesly), rarity..there is something to be appreciated with the inner workings of it. Can it do more than just tell time? Hell no but you wont be seeing a smartwatch sell/bought for 6 figures by a collector as some mechanical watches do.

Same goes for GT-Rs, Hellcats, Vipers, Lambos, Bugattis, you name it. Fast isnt everything.

I went from two BMW M3s and a X3 M340i to Model 3 Performance. Never going back to ICE/BMW.

Here is my situation. I bought the y performance in or around 3/2022. Paid 70k as i got the white interior and blue exterior, both were upcharges. I only have 3k miles on it now, and was considering either the X or S now that they have dropped towards my budget which was near 70k. The issue is if i want to get rid of the Y now, its about 9k underwater due to all of the model y price drops. The good news is when i bought the Y in 2022, rates were low. Im at 1.9% apr 60 months

So would u guys:

1) stay put in model Y and hope that the low mileage eventually recoups some of the negative equity. I will be averaging 5k annual miles at most. I enjoy the model Y and its perfectly nice and enjoyable. Just prefer the X/S.

2) wait for a further price drop on model x/s once fed tax credits expire.

3) go for the model x/s now and roll the negative equity into a new loan.

Appreciate feedback
What a waste of 70k on a depreciating asset that's loosing its value faster than most of other make/models and still coming on SD for deals.

Adding 3k miles on 1.5 yr time is another joke that shows how ppl insanely overspend money for Tesla's status symbol.

what makes you think the fed tax credits on the x/s will expire? and its possible tesla temporarily reduced the prices on x/s to clean out inventory build-up and maybe they will raise prices in a week or so?

80k for a glorified Model Y? Why would anyone pay this much? For that price I'd buy a Rivian.

I'm curious if I'd still go for the 992 911 gts 7mt after owning a s plaid. Currently driving a 650hp f80 6mt and I also like my wife's mylr.

I just did it, and got the credit on the buyer side. Since I didn't pickup the car, I can't yet confirm the referrer side, but I expect it to work

Just to put this "fastest car ever made" to sleep...

The fastest internal combustion engine car ever made from the factory WAS the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ but has been surpassed by the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut

"Fast" is not "quick" - when you're trying to get your point across about 0-60 times, that's a reference of how "quick" it is off the line. It means nothing about the top speed.

There are plenty of 300mph cars out there - ICE / top fuel, jet /turbine engines that can surpass 300mph easily. Those are the "fastest cars ever made".

300mph production cars... (no Teslas)
https://www.jdpower.com/cars/shop...ction-cars

Also, the land speed record was set in 1997... at 763.035 mph - 1227.985 km/h

If you're browsing SD for deals you probably shouldn't be spending $75k+ on a vehicle. You're welcome.
