It looks like they cut prices on the Model X and Model X Plaid. The base Model X now sells for $79,990 while the Plaid now sells for $89,990. All color options are included too. It also seems as if it might now qualify for a tax credit.

Edit: Model S prices were slashed too.

Model S base model $74,990
Model S Plaid $89,990

Didnt know only 1 factory made the X/S.
Yup- original plant in Fremont and that's it.

Max capacity is like 100k vehicles a year combined S/X.

Whereas worldwide 3/Y capacity is approaching 2 million a year.

It's a tiny fraction of their business anymore in comparison.

Quote from webdoctors :
I'm not worried about battery degradation but catastrophic battery pack failure that requires entire pack replacement.

https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/t...ed.243335/
.

In reading that link there's no catastrophic failure described at all... he got a warning max charge level was reduced and he was initially only able to charge the battery about halfway (on a >8 year old battery) but it still drove.

His last post in the thread was he got a software update soon after and the warning went away and the car went back to charging just fine.

Quote from Original poster :
The "Maximum battery charge level reduced" light was now gone and I was able to set the limit to 80% and charge up to over 200 miles before stopping it there. I drove it today without any problems

And again that's a gen-1 2012 battery using chemistry and tech they have much improved on since.

They do Transfer the FSD if you get the delivery by September 30th

I'm definitely purchasing an MYLR, have cash, but do not qualify for any tax incentives. No rush to buy over the next six months and can travel for pickup.

Will keep the car at least 8 years, averaging well under 10k miles/year. The original plan was to wait for a 2024, but these recent discounts are very enticing - I see an ideal one local for $46,960 (vs $51,490).

Given my situation, should I get with a SA to search for a similar in-stock discount now and close within this quarter's sales quota (9/30) or wait until the 2024's become available for the extra year of value but probably at MSRP?

I am on the same boat, Now it's a good time to buy but I wouldn't want to get stuck on the old model. Going to wait for the updated model next year 🙏🏻

Look at the YouTube videos listing and evaluating the Model 3 Highland changes from the older Model 3. Those changes will come to the Model Y Juniper in 2024. The car drives and rides better with a more premium interior design with better materials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rGGCYYBkMU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rGGCYYBkMU and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rGGCYYBkMU

We saw refresh Model 3s testing with camouflage in 2022, and it won't be on sale in the US until 2024.... not sure why anybody thinks a refreshed Y, which hasn't see any refresh prototypes at all, will ALSO be on sale in 2024.

The 3 came out almost 2 full years before the Y did, so getting a refresh of it at least 1-2 years ahead of the Y similarly makes sense.

Which means it was grossly overpriced initially.
That's not true. A lot of hard work by a huge team of talented engineers went into development. Electric cars are mostly developed now and much less human labor is required to crank them out. Long term they will be completely machine made and further drive down cost.

This post is naive. Obviously cars don't just make themselves on their own.

I don't know if it's been covered in this thread already, but couldn't someone write-off the entire cost of a model X using section 179 IRS and get the $7500 tax credit?
