I'll hold out until the holidays. My sweet point on these controllers is the $30-35 range.
Rechargeable AAs are your friend with gaming (as is a cheap 3 yr warranty as these start to die fast AF)

These are the same prices at Sam's Club as well, if they ever go bad, just return it.

Do controllers not fall under the Sam's club 90 day electronics returns? If they are under the return at any time then I would buy there because drift is awful with these newer controllers.

It's almost 2024 and these junks still ask for AA batteries.

What do you want them to be powered by, unicorn farts? Just use GOOD rechargeable batteries like Eneloops or Ikea LADDA (same as Eneloops) and you won't have to charge them that often

If you're suggesting they should have a built in battery like an iphone then go stick it because that would suck for a multitude of reasons. Just like why cell phones with non-removable batteries do

Agreed. Wish I would have gotten a warranty on my first Series controller. The joystick messed up right after the standard warranty ended.

Just got the carbon black from Amazon. Came in only the Xbox packaging. Upon opening there was dust on the controller (yet the box still has the seal) which when I looked online isn't uncommon - maybe from sitting in a factory/ warehouse and the fact the sides of the box aren't sealed. Anyway as soon as I first tried it the 'A' button stuck. So I'm going to waste my time going to UPS and hope the replacement is ok. - yeah maybe I should've rethought that..

Yep! Microsoft's lack of quality control on these things is absolutely ridiculous. The factory "warranty" is a joke. Stick drift within 6 months to a year. A button was stuck right out of the box. X button sticks after 3 months. So done with their crap controllers.

Can you recommend a decent controller?

I really wish I could. I've read lots of different articles with recommendations but anything that usually stands out to me is insanely pricey. I just don't play enough or competitively in order to justify those prices. So I unfortunately just suffer through the Microsoft garbage. 🤷 ♂️

Series 2 elite is better in some cases. They go on sale once in awhile.
