Because built in streaming software on TVs sucks and the interfaces are super slow?
Power cord included, maybe?
What do you need HTPC for nowadays that something like Nvidia shield or apple TV or FireTV cube can't provide? Asking genuinely because I used to have HTPC back in the days of WMC and Windows 7 but long gone are those days.

OOC, why is this considered a kit when it doesn't include RAM or SSD or OS? Because it has a GPU?

Pretty neat, how are the thermals/clocks on the 2060?

Surprised this is not getting more thumbs-ups. In m opinion, this is the best NUC intel has created. Powerful, quiet and small. Yes, the CPU is slightly outdated, but inside this nuc it runs at full power with no thermal throttling and super quietly.

Is this more powerful than the Xbox? I was able to sideload windows, and it runs pretty well. I just want a dedicated pc

Going to sound like a dumb question, apologies, but is there any reason I couldn't run ChromeOS on this thing?

You can get a HTPC config for under $200. Mine was $150 from Geekbuying. I actually saw a post on SD for one this evening.

NUC comes in few different flavors. You can get just the board itself which is the board w/ CPU soldered and thermal solution. Or you can get the kit, which includes board w/ CPU and thermal solution along with case/housing, PSU and VESA mounting plate.

It would. You get 2 M2. SSD slots and can expand with external drives/DAS. IMO if you're storing your media on HTPC and playing back on the said HTPC, this would be ideal. I think sdaddict was thinking more in line with having a box serve up media, and having a unit playback media. This would do both and wouldn't require another box or NAS to serve up media.

You def can. It would be an overkill for a ChromeOS though. You can possibly get much cheaper unit to run ChromeOS smoothly.
