Meh. Example set of tires I was looking at last week were $199/each. Now they are $236/each with $110 off. So, more expensive with the "deal".

I've been researching tires for the last month or so and while I can't speak specifically about the tires you purchased, from what I have been reading is that different tires do differently when it comes to dry roads, wet roads, and snow/ice.

You really have to be conscious about the type of conditions you're normally driving in.

What my research has shown is that most name brand tires still vary, but they don't perform horrible in any one category. Whereas the the budgets may and often do.

I urge you to do a bit more research just to make sure those tires perform well in the elements you drive in.

Check out consumer reports, Tyre reviews.com (European, but really great information) and just watch some reviews on Google. Get some more data points.

I was horrified to learn that some tires work great on dry, but are just outright terrible on wet roads. This could very well put you and your passengers at risk.

I would consider myself very frugal, and I would agree there are a lot of premium tires out there that are very much hype or provide very marginal differences. But just be careful. These tires are your only connection between the vehicle and the road. Just want you to be safe and save money Smilie

In 2021 I bought a set of Pirelli P Zero for $102 each and got the $70 rebate. Now they're $220 each. OUCH!!

I just take the car to my mechanic for tires. I tell them what I want in the way of performance, give them a budget and let them do the rest. The tires themselves each time have cost what I'd pay on amazon for them, and the labor is reasonable. Lowest price? Of course not. Best value? Easily. No driving to some suburban industro-retail strip like a dozen others that day not knowing where I'll end up in line for waiting, no 20 year old either pushing whatever the hot sheet says to push or tell me "one of my guys had to go home sick," no hoops, no marketing crap, no rebate cards, no uncertainty about workmanship, no having to return for anything (not once in thirty years for that), and free reminders that I'm due for 30/60/90K service whenever I'm ready or that I have maybe a year left on my battery, because they know that car better than I do.

The tires I bought last night have gone down in price, but they took off the $180 discount. The price is exactly the same, so they lowered the price by $45 per tire and the $110 discount is still there.

You have a mechanic? Who has a mechanic these days?
You don't use your cars reminders?
How does this mechanic keep up with tires?

Will similar deals become available later in the year say BF or New year.

My tires are getting there but not critical yet AFAIK - The worn-mark on the tire is still below the thread.

Good deal. Matches 4th of July sale for the tires I wanted to buy.
I already had tires in cart in my account and the discount was showing as the line item but not reflected in the total. Had to use a different browser for the $110 off to apply.
Could u explain this a bit more so we can re-produce?
Why did u have to use a different browser?

Yeah, I posted the 4th of July sale deal, too. I'm a Discount Tire fan. Smilie

This Labor Day deal is better for those wanting Pirelli tires. (The 4th of July deal was better for those wanting Continental tires.)
What can I expect for BF or New year? Which brand would be discounted more?

I am sure they will have something similar for BF and Christmas.

I bought a used cx5 awd and which came with extra 4 winter tires. Live in Michigan. What time of year do you change to winter tires? First freeze day or before snow?

On camry fwd, two tires are at 6/32 and two need to be changed immediately. I wasnt sure if I have to change all 4 to michelin cc2 (friend suggesting) or just change two and get 4 winter tires. Any suggestions?

I usually change them out sometime in November, especially if they're forecasting snow. Snow tires are fairly soft so you don't want to be driving with them when the weather is hot but anytime after late October or early November I would say they should be fine.

Costco has a Michelin promo [costco.com] at the moment. Looking at Michelin Pilot Sports and Costco has best deal that I can find right now.

I cannot go through costco because they don't do warranty. My original Michelin tires have 45000 mile warranty and they are at 3-4 tread depth at ~22,000 miles. I put in a warranty claim with Michelin, which gives me a pro-rated ~50% discount on my new tires. While places like Discount Tire and Tire Discounters honor this warranty claim, costco (atleast my local costco) does not.
