In spite of the snakeoil SD pickups, this is an astonishing Fender for the price. If it were American with these features? It would retail for $2299 (with a case, which this doesn't have). If you are on the fence, don't be. This has been one of Fender's best kept secrets for 20 years now.
Got one, and agree. The pickups are amazing! I wish I could change the bridge to a LP style, but it's a great great guitar for the price!

What are you talking about "snakeoil SD pickups"? The Pearly Gates and the '59 humbucker are fantastic and made in the US.

Adding some info on this bad boy to the wiki, I have the amber guitar, love it! Well made, versatile, light, sounds and plays great!

They are from Seymour Duncan. As if that matters or as if he makes "better" pickups. Pickups are 1930s technology. Humbuckers are 1950s technology. Any factory in Asia can make pickups that are 100% as good as anything SD makes. And yet people, including SD himself, act as if his have some magically quality that makes them sound better. I hate to see fellow guitarists waste their money like that. I have this guitar, but I sold the pickups and replaced them with generics. The sound didn't change one bit but my cost of ownership did.

Nooooo. Been waiting 2 years for the black cherry version. These were originally $725 when the Indonesian models hit the market about 5 years back. I should've pulled the trigger then, and when I didn't, the price jumped up nearly 40%.
