Some mattresses use fiberglass as a fire barrier or flame retardant. Here's why there's concern about fiberglass in mattresses:

1. **Airborne Fiberglass Particles**: If a mattress with a fiberglass fire barrier is improperly handled (e.g., removing the cover), tiny fiberglass particles can be released into the air. These particles can settle on nearby surfaces and become airborne again with movement. Breathing in these particles or getting them on the skin can cause irritation.

2. **Skin Irritation**: Fiberglass particles, when they come in contact with the skin, can cause itching, rashes, and irritation. This can be especially problematic for people with sensitive skin or allergies.

3. **Respiratory Issues**: Inhaling fiberglass particles can cause respiratory issues, as the particles can irritate the lungs. Prolonged exposure can potentially lead to more severe respiratory problems.

4. **Difficult to Clean**: Once released, fiberglass particles can be challenging to fully remove from a home environment. It can cling to fabrics, carpets, and other surfaces.

5. **Misinformation and Lack of Awareness**: Many consumers are unaware that their mattresses contain fiberglass. They might remove the cover for washing or for other reasons, unintentionally releasing fiberglass particles.

While the inclusion of fiberglass in some mattresses is meant to meet federal flammability standards, it's essential for consumers to be aware of the potential risks and handle such mattresses according to the manufacturer's instructions. If concerned about fiberglass in mattresses, consumers can look for alternative flame retardant materials or mattresses that meet fire safety standards without the use of fiberglass.

Can you at least acknowledge that the intention behind the law was good, even if the execution ruined it?

Or would you rather they take the nutrition and allergy warnings off of food items too?
Name 5 things that DONT cause cancer that are mass produced, manufactured, and don't occur naturally. I'll wait...

One of the reviews includes a photo of the tag which clearly states that the Inner Cover
includes 36% glass.
Is glass the same as fiber glass? Genuine question.

Also yes. Like the allergy warning like this needs to be removed.

"Ingredients: almonds.

Warning! May contain nuts."

Or when the tow hitch you buy warns you that it contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer if you consume it

I can't possibly imagine any other type of glass in a mattress.

What is COPPERChill? "Copper" is in the name of the mattress but never again in the description.

As a medical resercher, I certainly don't. It's not like fiberglass can leach up through the foam. Heck, I don't even care if it's in the foam because there's a simple solution. Get a zippered plastic mattress cover. I've seen Twin and Full ones at the dollar store although I prefer something more durable. In fact, as someone who sweats, I'd enclose my mattress with a plastic protector regardless if there is a risk of fiberglass.

I don't even know if the intention was good. A law requiring an informative warning label is great. But a law preventing consumers from using something in their own home? Nope. I know too many Californians who are pissed because they can't use something other Americans can.

One example are ozone generators. Sure the ozone is harmful if inhaled but there are many practical uses for it that don't involve respiratory exposure. For example, we use it to sanitize equipment in the lab. It allowed us to reuse masks and gowns during the COVID-19 PPE shortage. And I use one at home, enclosed in a plastic box. But my California friends don't have that freedom.

Let's face it: the California Prop warning has become a joke and lost all its informative value.

My partner prefers some "bounciness" during sex and I need edge support because I like sitting on the bed (unrelated to the sex). How do these mattresses rate in those two factors?

Same here, a bed bug mattress protector is the best the air barely escapes.

Hybrid or coil mattress would be your best bet.
