This soundbar is almost 4 years old and was replaced by a better version in 2022 that is louder, has better components, and (most importantly) supports eARC.

How much does the new version cost?
Is this one outperformed by others for less $$$? Thx 👍🏼

What are the competitors from Samsung? E.g., does this compete with the Samsung Q910, Q930, or Q990? Or is this a different class altogether?

Asking because there have been some really great deals on the Samsung systems lately and I'm waiting for my Q990 to arrive. Wondering if this Nakamichi is better or worse...

Nakamichi has been getting a lot of press lately because of their dragon soundbar

I saw that, but this isn't the Dragon soundbar (that costs $3k'ish?).

I was asking b/c this Shockwafe system is about the same price as the Samsung Q990C, hence the comparison.

Aah, Nakamichi, once upon a time my car's (a rusty box on four wheels really) CD player and when played, I felt like a oil mogul and a hedge fund manager.

At this price point, it's a no brainer to get the Q990C instead directly from Samsung with a qualifying EDU discount.

990C for sure over a 4 year old soundbar that retails at $1100. 990C is very impressive and will surely outperform it.

My 2 cents: I'd choose the Samsung 990C over this Nakamichi. Samsung has eARC, while this does not. Also, this Nakamichi is 7-channel, while the Samsung is 11-channel. If you are a bass-head, get the Nakamichi - 2 subs versus 1 for the Samsung.
