Save $150 - Beelink Core I5 32GB/500GB, Win11 Pro $349 instead of $499

Edit: 16GB version also on sale for $279 AC [amazon.com]

While there are many offers in this field, these seem to be well-reviewed, and core i5 may be the performance sweet spot for small builds like this. Also, as opposed to other brands there are several good reports about the support for this model.

32 GB for a "small build"? Even shared with integrated graphics that leaves the system with 24 GB which seems pretty big. But I guess they're talking about physical size.

5800H mini PC can usually be found at $300-$330 and are ~15% faster than 1235U so I would go with that if you don't need AV1 hardware decode, they also consume ~3-4W less than 1235U in idle (7W vs 10W). Other than that, I would go with whichever is cheaper

The 16GB version for $279 is an especially good deal. I think that the machine comes with both DIMM slots populated but even if you decided you wanted 32GB later the upgrade would only set you back $50 or so which still keeps the sum cost below the stock 32GB model.

I've owned my SEi12 since December 2022 and use it as a Plex server (16GB is plenty for this purpose also the Intel chip shines here for hardware transcoding support). It's a very good little machine and very reliable.

Heck, you can even do very light gaming on it on some newer games at 720p or old titles at 1440p.

I paid $379 and considered that a good price. Taking another $100 off is an *excellent* price.

The Intel chip is marginally faster for single threaded workloads whereas the AMD chip is marginally faster for multithreaded workloads. The AMD chip is going to be marginally better for gaming. The Intel chip is better for video transcoding.

I would say for games go with AMD. For Plex server or video editing work go with Intel. For anything else it doesn't matter much.

Do these come with space to add a 2nd larger hard drive (for plex storage)?
The specs say "DDR4 Slot x2, M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD Slot x1, SATA HDD (2.5inch7mm) Slot x1"

I'm guessing the native HD is NVMe and SATA slot is open. Is that correct?

If so, is there a max limit on storage size? Do most people keep their plex data on the PC or separate NAS?

You can add a 2.5" SATA HDD - somewhere I read about a 2TGB limit, but that may have been a previous model. Double check the spec before you decide.

Yes, the SATA slot is open.

I've read there's a 2TB limit but honestly I put a 4TB SSD in mine and it works fine. You just have to be careful with old-school hard drives because sometimes larger capacity 2.5" drives are taller and will not fit.

I know very little about networking - what is the benefit of dual lan? Do you connect it twice to the same router for double speed?

I purchased another version and had to return it as this one has trouble waking up the monitor after coming back from sleep. It was a pain to restart the monitor and switching the hdmi cables

Are any of these mini PCs good for mild Adobe Illustrator/Lightroom etc? Any specific CPU that works better? Looking for something sub $350ish.

I have a PC with an I7 and RTX3080 that I use heavy editing, but looking for a secondary PC for my bedroom.

Usually folks would use it as a firewall configured as one WAN and one LAN port. Personally, I went with a 4-port 2.5Gbps version of one of these to use with pfSense and it works great.
