The only thing this unit is missing is it appears not to be supported by municipalities that offer a low night time charging rate that is billed by the charger. WIFI connection directly from the charger to the utility servers to monitor usage.

Our municipality is using chargepoint and Juicebox. These two are fully UL Listed and I think that's the reason. Autel is UL Rated, but rated is not the same as UL listed.

Cable really stiff in <20F temps, but no overheats with garage temperatures over 110F easily this summer.

It's a heavy duty unit. Wifi and bluetooth work well, and you can actually hardwire ethernet on this one I believe if you don't have Wifi.

I don't have two units to test this, but I have researched this model more than many youtubers out there that do charging reviews. Yes it appears that two chargers can share one circuit based on load balancing. This load balancing is based on internet control to the two units, not control wiring between the two units. It's app driven through Wifi.

With data driven features and a dedicated app this is more powerful than the current Wall Connector in my opinion.

Maybe not as inexpensive, but you can piece together your own EVSE (colloquially called "EV Charger") using an open platform, which I find pretty slick!

Hmmm -15, I doubted I would be in the garage or anywhere else at that temp.

You saw it on store? Thinking of going there on my lunch, where would it be in store?

Does that 110v outlet work fine for the 16 amps? Total charge time? I was previously told I needed to run an extension cable from my dryer 240 plug outside instead of using the existing 110 outdoor wall outlet with a level 1 charger like you mentioned...? Highly considering buying my first EV and not sure if/when I can get a 240 dedicated plug put in outside before we move. Thx
When I got my model S I had to use a standard outlet to charge. It was unbearable. It was getting 3 to 5 miles per hour if I was lucky. If I drained 100 mile range it would need to sit plugged in over 24 hours to get back. I had to occasionally drive to the super charger to charge up if I knew I was going to drive a few days in a row.

I did get a 50 foot dryer extension cord and that gave me like 15 miles hour when I couldn't get to a charger but it was not ideal and plugging and unplugging those outlets aren't good and having to leave the door open let bugs in too.

Eventually I did get a 240v outlet installed and now get about 25 mile range per hour. I never use the super chargers anymore except for long distance.

Socal has wallbox level 2 charger 40a for 299.99, which should be equivalent to this one.

You will only get 16 amp on a 110v outlet if the receptacle and wiring is 20 amp. (the kind with one of the blades vertical and one of the blades horizontal).

If you have a regular 110v outlet that is 15 amp (the normal household kind with both blades vertical), then you would only get 12 amp.

80% rule:
20 amp * 0.8 = 16 amp.
15 amp * 0.8 = 12 amp.

Ev is the way to go. No maintenance and so convenient once you get the charging situation set up. If your commute is less than 20 miles daily you should be ok on standard outlet for the time being.

General information.
All currently produced EV's have the 'charger' built into the vehicle. All of these external 'chargers' are the equivalent of a power cord. They don't actually charge. They just provide physical connectivity to your electrical grid.

If you have a Tesla, the cheapest way to charge is at home using a standard NEMA14-50 outlet and the mobile charger cable. You can setup time of day charging in the app or in the car.
The Tesla wall connector provides some additional features and a higher charge rate for some Tesla vehicles.

The same holds for other EVs. Most can use a standard 240V outlet which is cheaper to install and you dont need to spend $100's on a 'charger'
Not true. The Rivian portable charger only charges at 7.6 kW on 240v. The Rivian wall charger charges at 11.5 kW.

Ty friend

is that the only charger you use and does fine overnight basically keeping you charged?
That is the only charger I use. I usually charge it to 80% and rarely discharge below 40%, so that only takes 8 hours to charge. It's an 8 year old car and the car claims something like 9 of 11 bars of battery health. Slow and incomplete charges are good for the battery.

I called Automation Costco and they said that the item has been deleted since spring of this year and nothing shows up in their inventory. Called some nearby Costco locations in the Bay Area and none seem to have it. When did you see this OP?

I saw there are some chargers on tooling rack near fruit section, which are put on sale last weekend.
I don't really remember the name and price so it may not be the same product? If so, sorry for sharing misleading info

Rep from one cow to another. Was thinking what you've outline so I'm encouraged a similar choice may work for me even without 240 install.

Ty. Any idea what the dryer socket method pulls on average for charging purposes? My dryer is reachable from a carport from a tiny slider window.
