The only thing this unit is missing is it appears not to be supported by municipalities that offer a low night time charging rate that is billed by the charger. WIFI connection directly from the charger to the utility servers to monitor usage.

Our municipality is using chargepoint and Juicebox. These two are fully UL Listed and I think that's the reason. Autel is UL Rated, but rated is not the same as UL listed.

Cable really stiff in <20F temps, but no overheats with garage temperatures over 110F easily this summer.

It's a heavy duty unit. Wifi and bluetooth work well, and you can actually hardwire ethernet on this one I believe if you don't have Wifi.

I don't have two units to test this, but I have researched this model more than many youtubers out there that do charging reviews. Yes it appears that two chargers can share one circuit based on load balancing. This load balancing is based on internet control to the two units, not control wiring between the two units. It's app driven through Wifi.

With data driven features and a dedicated app this is more powerful than the current Wall Connector in my opinion.

Maybe not as inexpensive, but you can piece together your own EVSE (colloquially called "EV Charger") using an open platform, which I find pretty slick!

Hmmm -15, I doubted I would be in the garage or anywhere else at that temp.

Not too bad...how many miles does it cover per year (or rather, how many miles do you drive that it gives you that rate?

I have full w/500 Deductible on my Kia niro ev for $600 every 6 months 12k a year, just me driving

But it's $499. Is this cheaper in store or is it a different model?
that is the one. $300 in store as of yesterday.

Does it come with a 14-50 plug or is it hardwire only?

Or be like me and make a couple stacks from Tesla stock, buy a Tesla, enjoy the best driving experience of my life, and pay under 75/month for Tesla insurance by keeping my safety score between 90-100
So basically, granny drive everywhere you go. No launches, no freeway entrance full power sends, no windy back roads fun? Because I'm assuming those aren't an option if you're trying to stay between 90 and 100 score.

"Full coverage" doesn't tell the full story. The amount of coverage limits and annual mileage determines more of the cost than just deductible. Like ive heard people say their insurance is so cheap and no one else they know has low annual premiums. Only to find out they only have basic minimums like 25k per person 50k per accident 25k property damage. Now jump that to 500k each or 1M and it's a big price jump.

That doesn't say much as you don't list your actual coverage. Like what are coverage limits... state minimums or higher, rental coverage, medical payments, annual mileage. It all ads up and make a big difference.

the single most important factor in auto insurance is uninsured motorist coverage (UIM)

Can you explain more or provide a link to an option you're referring to? I've researched EV chargers for years and I've never seen a 240v direct to vehicle cable option on vehicles. Am I misunderstanding?
240v EV chargers do provide 240v to the vehicle. The vehicle then converts it to DC to charge the batteries. Direct connection to 240V is not allowed in the US, you need to have a charger that "talks" to the car so it can "safely" charge. If the vehicle is getting hot then charger will limit the current or increase if it's safe, etc. That's why currently DC charging is the fastest because it directly charges the batteries without needing to go through a converter.

The comment you're replying to is just saying that the small charger that comes with the car can also do 240 (on some EV models) with an adapter.

Not a bad price. But you get rebates for these things, some places even comes out for free, so why not just go with something that has the max amps? This isn't something that you replace every once in a while, so why not do it right from the beginning?
