There's very little reason to go z7xx over z6xx.
What's wrong with you? My 13900K + MSI Z690 combo works perfectly for me.

Can one do a free return and re-buy at the lower price?

I see ddr5 support. I see that ddr4 isn't supported supported so not backward compatible. Is it the same with CPU?
I was going to buy a cpu and mobo combo but now I also think it may not be bad to start replacing one at a time and find deals. Use this board on old intel CPU I have, then few months later change the CPU. Not sure as I don't do this often.

This board supports LGA 1700 (12th gen, 13th gen & next gen Intel desktop CPU).
are all the intel boards bad(this one included) or just the Z760's? looking to rebuild 8 year old family PC and this board was intriguing.
I was suggesting Gidrah that sticking to the plan and build with AMD instead of Intel to avoid potential losses on an unfamiliar product line. That is not to say that starting with and settling for Intel is a bad choice. There is no Z760 board, BTW.

Very very happy with my asrock z690 steel legend boards. I made the switch from gigabyte and asus.
Edit: I made a typo on the B760 but its actually worse than the Z690 so disregard.
