Anyone else not excited about a garage door company managing security for 'smart' devices and live video? If they stop upgrading firmware or EOL the product? Im definitely leaning towards dumb garage door opener and add smarts or video in the garage with separate replaceable devices.

You do not have to sign up for a storage plan to stream live video. However, a subscription is required to automatically record and save video. A subscription is also required for our premium features such as People Detection and Facial Recognition.
Agreed. Considering that Chamberlain keeps flip-flopping on Alexa/Google integration: "Yes, it's free." Then, "We disabled it because it's a security risk." And then they brought it back, but as a paid subscription. And I believe Siri integration was limited to "Close door" and "check status", but no opening at the time. I don't even know (or care) about it at this point.

I've been much happier since I took out my Chamberlain and put in a comparable Genie instead.

Lots of super cheap people I guess.

Well, this is Slick Deals....

Does this come with all the parts to install (not replace) the opener onto a new garage? The garage in question doesn't have an existing opener and just a manual pull one.

I have relatively thin plywood garage doors that are balanced where you can open them with your index finger alone and they stay mid way if you let go. I know a lot of newer openers specify for sectional doors only, not solid like mine, but do you think they'd be ok? Btw, I'm currently using Craftsman 1/2 hp openers from 2002 and they work great.

It's in the garage section where all tools are. Go to the link and in the middle section, there's a spot to see the stock at your local Costco. I got mine in Fontana, Ca yesterday.
Thanks , I found them where you said!

That's really odd that they specify that. Maybe it's more the reach of the arm or the action of the movement? Because when the springs weaken on the sliding metal doors they get really really heavy and hard to move. So I don't think it's necessarily any harder to move one type than the other.

I don't see those plywood doors much anymore. Funny thing I have seen is places where people stick a metal door in a frame so it moves like a plywood door lol.
