That would be unusual for teak, especially for a thin strip glue-up. That said, edge grain isn't ideal.

buy at your own risk! These boards usually fall apart (literally) with changes in temperature and/or moisture, from the glued part. Just a matter of months

This will warp. Bought them at marshalls and didn't apply oil to the cutting surface. It's warped. Go for end grain instead.

This is a $25 cutting board when new. Sold at Walmart, Meijer and other large stores, then rebranded.

Bought this for $25 three years ago as a gift. It looks nice but WILL warp with normal usage. Better off getting a thicker one or something that uses End grain and not edge grain

Of all places I didn't expect my local grocery store 'HEB' if your lucky enough to have one near you. Mine has a 24" x 18" x 1.5" cutting board by Catskill brand. For $65 have a look if yours has one too, best deal to quality board I've seen anywhere online and in person.

Wirecutter and Americas Testing Kitchen both rated this company as having one of the best boards (caveat that this board is a different model and thickness).

End grain looks nicer but America Test Kitchen showed end grains started having gaps in some during their tests so recommended edge grain

Obviously its going to warp. The common woodworking depiction of grains is to hold a bunch of straws together to represent the grains for wood movement. All of the straw openings in this are facing up. They done get longer, but when they heat / cool / absorb moisture the bundle.gets more and less tight. All the edges where the bundles touch are where the glue joinys are...allowing for wood movement in 2 directions. Edge grain, however, means 1 axis wood expansion and contraction, which is much more durable.

I have made lots of boards and I have a daily use edge grain going on 14 years.... still perfect. Not debating your description of the joint physics, just sharing real world experience

Hmmm. I wonder to what extent local environment comes into play. Like if local humidity and anual high / lows will give us different experiences.
