Good deal, OP. Back to lurking.
1. Mechanical design is a sandwich type, not slider, which allows excellent thermal contact with the NVMe.
2. RTL9210 chipset, most compatible
3. Tool less. Fast easy reliable instabll
Minor quibbles:
1. thermal pad is high quality, better than others but may not be the right height for your NVMe. In that case you may need to buy another thermal pad. This is also true for ALL enclosures
2. sabrent cable is sometimes flaky and is not USB-IF certified
3. Sabrent does not provide the latest firmware update for the RTL9210. You have to figure it out yourself,.
All in all an excellent drive for cheap. Get it. Highest recommendation of the enclosures out there.
Long rant:
Being a usb standard and not part of thunderbolt 3, or 4; it requires two usb 3.2 gen2 lanes being combined so the setup is usually referred as 2x2, the technology came, and went, it's dead in the water. I don't know of any laptops off the top of my head that support usb 2x2 but I have a MSI MAG B660M Mortar motherboard (ridiculous name, I know) that has just one 2x2 port. I'm guessing many laptop manufacturers didn't adopt it because you lose some lanes, adoption rate of 2x2 enclosures, and devices was small, and they figured people just wanted more usb ports instead. The enclosures I have seen range from $50 to $100, Might as well buy thunderbolt 4 or usb4 enclosure depending on your port technology and implementation because USB is a mess. USB4 is suppose to be 40Gbps but it's still considered USB4 if you only implement it to do 20Gbps (not to be confused with 2x2, it won't work on a 2x2 enclosure). Linus tech tips did a whole vid on it.
