They need to stop advertising that the RAM is DDR5-5600. I sent one of the 7700X models back because it was running at 5200mhz. Not only that but it came with 1yr of Lenovo Ultimate Support but it was flagged for generic support. I finally dug up the number for the "Ultimate Support" and had to argue with him because he was clearly not trained on this model and kept saying the Windows CMD "wmic memorychip get speed" is the actual speed it's running at, then he gave up and just said to file a return for it.

Turns out the marketing material and the docs for the AMD Gen 8's were not properly written when they released. The Ram is Samsung DDR5-5600 running at 5200mhz and if they had just allowed manual ram configuration in the BIOS then this would of never been an issue. Also the 4 pipe cooler they use is barely capable of cooling the 7700x, so I'd not expect the 7700 to get too high of a boost clock.

Does that mobo have Bluetooth 5.1?

This is important to note for everyone from the comments on Lenovo's website:

"Lenovo has disabled XMP on this machine which means you will NOT be able to add any additional memory and set the speed more than the default 4800MHz."

"Disingenuous about their ram speed and upgradability. Ram doesn't run at full speed. Bios is super limiting. Can't upgrade ram while remaining in warranty. And no ram is available that is within warranty, meaning there is no upgrade path to 32 GB while remaining in warranty. It's deliberate misrepresentation. It's false advertising. The product page even says you can upgrade."

It's an OK deal with mismatched tier components.

I know a lot of people can't or don't want to build, but DIY price is still a good reference point. For literally $10 less, you can get the same cpu/gpu combo, with twice as much (and faster) RAM and 4x the storage, plus 50% more PSU and be pretty well future proof.

A 7700 with 16gb and 500w is pretty cramped, and for no savings at all.
7700 + 4070 pulls less than 250w while running games. Hardly 'cramped' I would say.

If you have a MicroCenter nearby you can get one of their CPU, Mobo, Ram bundles and build a much better pc for the same or less money.

You're gonna have a hard time explaining why you need a graphics card to run Microsoft office especially if your business doesn't have anything to do with video editing.

Vs buying a pre-built there's generally no questions asked especially if the itemized line item/receipt says Legion T5 Gen 8 Desktop.

Certain parts like ssd, ram, etc can be written off without issue. But you're going to get into a grey area when you have other parts that are clearly unnecessary.
You might be new to running a business but it can all be expensed. You might as well get the best stuff within reason if you have a successful business. Add a Herman Miller Aeron chair as well and a Odyssey G9 Monitor. Who are you explaining it to?

I can write off this computer as a business expense. I can't write off individual parts I buy and put a computer together.
May want to seek another resource for tax advice.

I already tried helping out by explaining this to him, but he downvoted the advice. Haha, just let him think whatever he wants to.

I see this has storage support for: Up to five drives, 2x 3.5" HDD + 3x M.2 SSD.

Will the 500W power supply be enough if i put in 2 HDDs? Wanting to make sure a USB port or anything isn't laggy.

I'm mainly going to use this for video editing via Adobe Illustrator / GoPro footage.
-any specific deals on RAM, I would get to a total of 32GB. I'm going to get the 1TD system & then clone it to a 2 or 3TB NVMe.

It will be fine. HDD or SSD don't consume that much power to affect other components, especially when there is a 500W PSU.

He said why earlier and it had nothing to do with taxes.
