I saw in the Amazon reviews a mention about cracked PCBs on Gigabyte RTX 30xx and 40xx series GPUs. Is this something to be concerned about on this model?

Fair, but when the 7800xt is still $50 cheaper and 6800xt has been seen at stupid low prices this isn't really a deal

Also I highly doubt prices will rise come black Friday. Let's wait and see

And your comment is fair, also. But if one is going to buy a same-tier AMD card for less, they have to be willing to give up the raytracing and DLSS3 that the Nvidia cards have. Which is probaby why the AMD cards are selling for less in the first place.
And you're probably right - there'll be some GPU deals on BF, but I'd bet the number of cards offered will be depleted quickly on the higher-end 'deals'. Nothing like people camping out overnight at Bestbuy to grab an RTX 3080 several years ago, but still.

I am far from an expert on FurMark. But, I understand that it is a stress test for the GPU and not the CPU. Since you tested the 1070 Ti on both systems, that seems to be the expected outcome. If you're trying to find out how much better the upgrade is for productivity, you may use something like Blender, Chromium Compile, Adobe Premier or other equivalent software; provided you measured that on your previous build. This is all academic otherwise.
Thanks for the input. I'm trying to test the CPU bottleneck people talk about when using old CPU with newer GPU, I guess particularly in games.

I did a PC Mark bench and got less than double the points on the new system.. high 4xxx vs low 7xxx. That felt not amazing considering the 10+ years of difference between both system technologies.

Mine didn't crack. They come with a support piece in the box. You need to install that.

STOP demanding nvidia cards.. the pricing to performance is a scam
Tell that to all the 6800 players who have driver issues running games. And if you do any recording everyone knows NVDA is king.

If you aren't in a rush to upgrade, I'm just suggesting to hold out. For anyone who needs a card now, this is a fine price.
In retrospect $600 at release seems better than this deal 5 months later for people who are building. I know there are better times to buy so I guess at launch or now are those times. Same as any other deals. So a bummer in terms of getting a deal for people who bought between launch and this deal.

At prices 18 months ago yes absolutely hold the line. But now? It's already reasonable enough, I'd rather get my card and use it for than wait 2 months to save 50 bucks.
At this rate pc gaming seems bleak where gamers are holing the lime with both Nvidia and Amd not needing gpu sales since they probably make all their profits elsewhere.

Def the case with Nvidia, where their AI chips are supposed to be the bees knees with no real competition. AMD on the other absolutely needs the GPU sales to gamers. We shall see.

Bit of a typo, misspoken. I meant gamers holing lime fruitlessly while both Nvidia and Amd can basically neglect (for a while) gpu development specifically for pc gamers since it's a niche market. They would gain more profit spending their manpower and resources elsewhere such as ai.

I understood you, as I mentioned AMD doesn't have other significant revenue streams like Nvidia does, so they really need to push the envelop in price/performance to drive sales. Nvidia's lead is AI chips is so dominant the gaming market is probably niche for them.

4070 is an amazing card. I have the MSI version as that's the only brand I trust, but Frame Generation is no joke. It is easily the next best thing to happen to computers since the SSD. Those that say the 40 series is junk just can't afford one.

AMD also sells consumer and server/datacenter CPUs... and motherboard chipsets... and a variety of components used in consumer electronic goods.

You heard it guys! Gb1908 hasn't had any driver issues, so clearly that means that no one else does.

If you run 120 games on your pc or have other potential ill advised hardware pairings, sure.. driver issues could seemingly creep up
