Got this last time it was cheap. It's really nice but it's very large and heavy, at least for my van camping needs. It's very nice though. Everything is stainless and it has a lot of BTUs. Knobs and igniters feel high quality.

Does the lower volume hood help or hurt?
Can this be converted to run on Natural gas?

Wonder if this can be mounted inside a cabinet to make it "outdoor kitchen" grill
With proper clearance and air flow, yes. Most true builtin grills have a stainless liner you install first. If done improperly, you risk fire, burning up the grill, or poor performance.

Is there another version of this with longer legs? A few months ago I was at Costco and they had a grill that looked almost exactly like this, but the legs on it were long enough to be floor-standing. It was a little bit cheaper from what I recall, but down to the floor model only with a price ending in $.97

Any comments on this as a camping grill that will get used alot with a cast iron skillet for eggs bacon stews chillies etc and boiling water for tea/coffee etc. Basic camping type stuff. Don't mind the heft to and from the vehicle to camp and being able to use 20lb tank is nice vs the small 1lb that most portable camping stoves use without converting.
For that I suggest getting a camping stove. Coleman has several models that are affordable and work great. They are designed to work with the small 1lb propane tanks but you can get an adapter for use with a 20lb tank.

Anyone know if the connection can be converted to use the standard fitting on my RV?
Short answer is yes, however if you have a quick connect on the RV, the line is most likely already regulated at the tank to a lower pressure and need to modify or replace the connection with a compatible line. You can't have two regulators between the grill and the tank.

I don't know if you are talking about the camp chef with long foldable legs, we have that some for $129.97, great for cooking but more like a stove.

Ordered one also. That said, it appears as though a significant design shortcoming involves the drip collection, consisting of a single meager oval cutout beneath the center burner in toto. Guess that de-greaser and wipes et alia.

it says stainless steel on the product page
worst case is.. "hey Costco this is all rusted it's not stainless steel, I'm gonna need a refund!" 😂
Big kudos for the ad specifying the stainless steel grade, SUPER helpful, way to go Costco!

Copy and paste below from what looks to be a reliable source on the interwebs:

304 Stainless Steel

304 stainless steel is the most common form of stainless steel used around the world, due to its excellent corrosion resistance and value. It contains between 16 and 24 percent chromium and up to 35 percent nickel—as well as small amounts of carbon and manganese.

The most common form of 304 stainless steel is 18-8 (18/8) stainless steel, which contains 18 percent chromium and 8 percent nickel.

304 stainless steel is the most common form of stainless steel used around the world due to excellent corrosion resistance and value.

304 can withstand corrosion from most oxidizing acids. That durability makes 304 easy to sanitize, and therefore ideal for kitchen and food applications. It is also common in buildings, décor, and site furnishings.

304 stainless steel does have one weakness—it is susceptible to corrosion from chloride solutions, or from saline environments like those near an ocean. Chloride ions can create localized areas of corrosion, called "pitting," which can spread beneath protective chromium barriers to compromise internal structures. Solutions with as little as 25 ppm of sodium chloride can begin to have a corrosive effect.

Common uses for 304 stainless steel:

Storage tanks
Fasteners and finishing hardware (screws, nuts, bolts, plates, handles)
Pots and pans
Residential sinks and sink parts
Indoor architectural/decorative hardware (panels, sculptures, sconces)
Equipment tubing
Residential appliances

Looks like 316 stainless is superior grade around salt water environments.

I bought one of these and tried it once. I hated it and returned it. The thing started smoking just as I preheated the thing. Chicken and veggies were terrible. Now it's possible it was me and not the machine... still in my defense I have been BBQing for years now and known to be a good BBQer.
