These suck and go bad in a few months if you actually use them every day.

I used it every day and the ceramic coating flakes off the inside of the mug. Technically it's safe but the cup looks awful inside and something about knowing the ceramic continues to flake off in my drink bothered me.

I stopped using mine and got a dumb version of a electric warming mug from Walmart for $40 and it has lasted me over 2+ years with no paint or coating flaking. The inside looks a little scratched up but that's to be expected. No flaking off substance though.

I would not recommend this unless you really need Bluetooth and app connection

Feel free to look up ember mub flaking you'll see it's super common. At least it was on the Ember 2 mug I had, not sure they've fixed it in newer models.

Mine lasted about two years of daily use before it started flaking. Threw it in the trash. Wouldn't but it again for full retail, especially considering the MSRP price increase.

I used to fantasize about getting one of these until I got a quality vacuum insulated cup. Can't fathom paying for or dealing with this sort of thing now. Anyone who has experimented with both that can give perspective?

Keeps warm beverages warm. If you're like me and sip your coffee slowly and don't like lukewarm coffee, it's fantastic.
Regularly $179 fantastic?

I saw one of these in Goodwill for $20 this week. I passed. I mean... wtf?

BTW, you are not a true SD'er unless you frequent GW.
I've been absolutely amazed at some of the items I've found at Goodwill. Unfortunately, my local GW doesn't stock gaming stuff anymore outside of the random controller, Wii Fit Board, Guitar, etc which would be my big draw but otherwise, love GW. I recently picked up the first 6 seasons of King of The Hill for like $18 there. Always hit and miss but I definitely like having a GW locally.

To the people that said this mug is for seating at one place and enjoy coffee slowly. If you're going to be stationary and taking your time sipping coffee then why not just get a much cheaper heating plate instead? Also, a $30 Yeti or Hydro Flask mug will keep your coffee just as hot for hours and it's somewhat spill-proof.

I'd like to get something like this for my Grandpa but he would struggle with the Bluetooth functionality. He has hearing aids now that are Bluetooth that have been nothing but a problem for him.

Buy a $15-$25 coffee warmer and use whatever mug you want. It's a must for a home office.

I've had 3 of these. The first one flaked after 1.5 years and was replaced under warranty. The second one was the v2 and had a failed charger that was also replaced. I gave it away as a gift so I could buy a larger one. My third one has lasted 3 years without issue. All of them were used everyday. I've purchased all of them at significant discount.

The flaking issues were real, but they've changed their manufacturing process.

To answer other questions: I used a hot plate for years when I was in an office and it scalded my coffe and made it taste burnt. These don't, and have a variable temperature you can hold the coffee at.

Exactly my experience. I had two a few years ago, same thing. I got replacements in warranty, same thing in two months the coating flaking off. Stopped using and moved on. Horrible products.

Apparently they are closing out 10 ounce Rose Gold and black travel mugs also. Sent my sister on a wild goose chase in Williamsburg, VA and got 3- 14 ounce, 2- 10 ounce for $44.99 and 2 travel mugs for $54.99 I think. None left in Williamsburg store but maybe in other stores if you check inventory. Would never buy for myself but was gifted mine and I love it! These will be my first Christmas gifts👏

I got the black version as a gift and have used it for about a year now. The app can be a bit slow to connect to the mug via Bluetooth but it works. You can change the temperature with it but I just keep mine at 132F.

It's one of those things you'd never buy for yourself at full price but it's a nice quality of life thing to have if you like taking your time to enjoy hot coffee or tea.

I haven't had any issues so far with flaking or battery life. I never use a metal spoon in it, just a wooden chopstick to stir my coffee. I always wash it by hand with a soft sponge at most, never anything abrasive.

This isn't dishwasher safe. The bottom has a rubber and exposed metal coil base to charge the mug. You have to make sure the base is completely dry before putting it back on the charging base.

Although Brickseek said my local Target was out of stock I found one 14oz for $53.99 and one 10oz for $44.99.
Were they both Rose Gold? Or were other colors on clearance too?
