Downgraded the SSD, Upgraded to 64GB RAM, NFC and 4k OLED and still came up a good deal $1,513.80. 32GB was $1,360.80 so the RAM upgrade was kinda pricey but still good enough. - 8% CB site and 3% CB with Amex card gets rid of tax and then some πŸ‘πŸ‘

There is an Amex offer for $100 off $500 (or 15% on business cards). It's targeted but seems to be widely available. You could even split payment among two cards.

I had the P16s Gen 1 last year with the QHD+ panel and it was a GREAT GREAT laptop. The screen was wonderful for productivity - getting that extra two inches vs a 14" T14 is huge for productivity and more than worth the extra weight. So many people gripe about an extra 0.8lbs, but it's really nothing. The keyboard was excellent and met my demanding Thinkpad user expectations. I had the small battery last year and that lasted about 4.5 hours generally so I think the bigger one should provide 8 hours or so. Lenovo made a big mistake to ship this model with the small battery bc it resulted in a lot of bad reviews even though the laptop itself was EXCELLENT. Was even able to play Red Dead Redemption on it at low-med settings at 1080p and that was with the previous gen processor (Ryzen 6850U with the 680M iGPU). I will say though that I would only get this with the QHD+ display. In this day and age, FHD is only appropriate for 14" or smaller (and even then it's barely enough).

Also, the speakers and webcam in last year's model were not great - but if you're familiar with Thinkpads you probably know that already. Port selection, keyboard, durability/build quality are what Thinkpads score well on.

I did wind up selling it bc I was gaming heavily and wound up getting a Legion 5 Pro (which I love) but I don't like lugging that thing to work.

Ordered the 64gb version with OLED screen. Will return the p14s gen4 with nearly identical specs. Bigger screen, bigger battery, and a number pad are nice additions. Didn't upgrade the HD as I have a 4tb sn850x ready to go.

Got mine, but got it without a product key, and can't be activated, and it seems other people also have on reddit for the new P14s AMD, and worse the fix Lenovo had for them was to switch mobos with a new one.

For windows, right?

Having the same issue, if so. Spent an hour being transferred around and talking to four people before quitting for the night. Having no valid Windows key is absolutely ridiculous.

Yes, me with Windows 11 home but others also with Windows 11 pro. I wonder if this is also happening with pre-made laptops. I believe those shipped earlier, while the people who built their own like us are just getting them in the past week or so.

Same... windows 11 home and custom build.

Did you resolve your issue? I'm p16 and hope they are not going to ask me to ship this back for a replacement as their resolution. Absolutely idiotic if so!

I'm debating whether it's worth to return it and buy a bit later, potentially for even cheaper, or just wait a bit and worst case scenario eat the cost of Windows 11 home which I'm not going to use anyway cause I'm installing my own Pro license. I am more worried down the road if I decide to sell it later on.

Does it come with an open ram slot so if I get the soldered 32gb I can add my own 32gb stick?

Damn. Sucks if it ships without a windows key. I thought that was burned into the bios basically so you can just reinstall and activate with no issue if needed. Never heard of a laptop shipping that that can't activate

I am still dealing with this Windows Key issue. I have called Lenovo probably 7 times and Microsoft twice. Microsoft is telling me to buy a product key as a solution. Derrr... of course that's a solution.

The amount of time spent chasing my tail here is pretty frustrating.
