I just bought it at $220. Seemed like more work than it's worth to open up a credit card to save $20.

Unrelated to that, I love the Schlage locks. These are rock solid - at least the one that I have on my front door. Glad to be able to add one to the back door for the kids to use.

If your house is set up for Apple Homekit, the Encode PLUS is the one you need to get. Encode will not connect to Apple Homekit. I have read somewhere that someone programmed a plug-in for Home Assistant, but I haven't tried it. There is no plug-in for Homebridge for Schlage Encode.

Schlage's own app is shaky at best. Not a fan. Other than that I've used many Connect locks (both Zwave, WiFi), these are the most reliable locks out there for the most part and have way much battery life than August/Yale.

/shrug might as well not worry about it for $30 instead of 10x as much. Don't have to worry about batteries, either.
/shrug I like Schlage for its build quality and the homekit integration. Price is not a factor. Just like cars. Some people pay more, some pay less. Both get you from point A to B.

Btw, burglary gangs don't pick locks. Bike thieves don't pick locks. Takes skill, training, and time to pick. You don't ever have to worry about your local criminals picking your door lock to get inside. It's just for the movies.

What is fun though is learning to rekey the lock (changing pins) so you can continue to use the current key. That is what I did with three of these encode plus locks.

Great lock. I installed the z-wave version a week ago. I'm pretty satisfied thus far. Solid build.

How did you learn to rekey the lock?

Before you get started, there are two ways to go about it. First is the cheap way. It involves taking the pins from each old lock and putting them in your new encode plus. Second is to buy a Schlage rekey kit with all the necessary tools and pins. The second method is more expensive and it's the route I went with.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9qzjHIE6ls - This was not the video I watched but I think it does a good job showing you the steps involved. I basically watched a lot youtube videos until I was comfortable with the steps involved. I have also been watching lockpickinglawyer channels for years so I knew the inner workings of the core.

The 20% off coupon requires a Lowe's credit card. I didn't have one so I use the 10% coupon.

Nobody cares. My old house was broken into once before. Want to know how they got inside? They kicked the side door 4 times to break it open from the door frame in broad daylight. Faster than lockpicking lawyer's slow as snails 30 seconds pick.

I watch his channel for entertainment. Even have his lockpicking kits that I play around with for fun. I'm not even worried about being locked outside and needing to use my newfound skill to pick the lock because with smart locks, I don't ever need to worry about it.
Did you install a reinforced strike plate? Should make it harder (but not impossible) for someone to kick your door open.

We have several of these. Only comment I have is keep rechargeable batteries on hand. Our shop WiFi is not as strong and the batteries die faster. Other than that these are awesome. If you forget to lock a door, you can lock from your phone… or unlock for the friend or family that shows up early !

I've had this for about a year and I love it. Unlocking the front door with my Apple Watch is super convenient, and having it automatically lock after a couple minutes is great if you have kids who always forget to lock the door.

Only thing that sucks about this is the keypad does not light up until you press a number so it's kinda hard to feel for where things are at night. But I guess a workaround is to unlock your door in the car before walking up...

If it is linked with homekit, just use voice command.

I own this lock. What sold me is it's a lot smaller on the inside of your doors than the others. The batteries do need to be replaced every 6-8 months. I have it set up through Homekit, connected to my ring and Alexa, but honestly if someone rings my bell I get up to open the door or assign someone a code if they come in often. The Schlage app is ok, I use it to check the firmware and the battery level. I can assign codes in either the Schlage app or Homekit. I usually do it through Schalge app. That's it. Any questions?

I have this for my garage interior door and it works flawlessly. Connected to HomeKit through thread so battery life is excellent. Linked it to home assistant for all my automations. I never have to turn the bolt as it's automatic.

I have the Schlage zwave lock for the front door which has been working for years. Had to only change batteries once in 7 years. My front door only has lock automations. I don't trust unlock automations for the front
