Enough iphone 15 will be available in US, Chinese not buying due to Mate X5 and Mate 60 pro. No wonder pro price kept at $999 instead $1199. Just wait a little many offers will come.

I cannot stress this enough. This is not worth it. Their customer service is *abysmal*. If you have ANY issues, be prepared for weeks of calls talking to people who speak words, but don't understand anything you're saying.

I actually called in to cancel my mobile service because it would not let me do it online and they could not successfully port any numbers I was trying to bring after 3 weeks. They cancelled my INTERNET, and left my mobile active, even after I specifically said "I want to be clear, I do NOT want to cancel my internet services." and verbally confirmed that with them twice. It was an absolute joke.

Most likely it will be same as apple, you'll need iphone 14 pro max 1tb to get full $830 back else get $100-$200 back

Be careful, I made the deal for my iPhone 12 pro max trade in, today I contacted customer service and they told me that I would only receive 325 dollars for the trade in, that the algorithm shows 830 but it is not exact, be careful with that, I have canceled my order.
Curious to know what was the condition of your phone? Were there any damages? Are the screen original?

You can't since its locked to Xfinity until you pay it off in full -- takes 24mo for this promo and then they'll unlock (otherwise you can pay it off earlier yourself but you'll lose the remaining promo credits)

Carry a spare unlocked phone for other sims if traveling

Can't.

1. it's locked to XM for up to 24 months
2. US models of iPhone 14 and 15 lost the sim card slot. European models of 14 and 15 still have it.
For travelling I use a spare phone, unlocked, with a sim card slot.

I asked this question earlier in the thread but am going to ask it again but differently as we most likely won't be trading in to get the Iphone 15. Anyway my teenage daughter has an Iphone 12 on XM that is paid in full. Being that it's paid in full is it automatically unlocked or do we need to have them unlock it for us?

She is going on a school trip to France in February for 9 days or so and it looks like it'll cost $10 per day to have her use XM while there (int'l roaming I guess). I believe her Iphone 12 has a sim card slot (not esim) and see you guys post about just popping another sim in when traveling internationally as it's way cheaper. I guess this might for my for daughter when she travels to France? I assume you still need to find a carrier over there for service and use their Sim card in your phone correct? I guess it all depends on how much that service would cost for those 9 days she's in France.

Does this sound right? Maybe this would be too much for a teenager to deal with while in France and it would just be easier to pay the $10 extortion (I mean roaming fee) per day with XM?

Any advice on our situation would be greatly appreciatedSmilie

^^ Reboot your daughter's phone then look under "About" in the settings. If it says No Sim restriction then it's already unlocked and you're free to use the device with any carriers. If not, call XM to request unlock.
Once unlocked, you can purchase esim plan from Airalo or others for as little as $15 for 5GB.

OK I will check into it and see if it's unlocked or not yet. So when you mention purchasing an esim would she still use her current phone number in that situation? Sorry but we have never traveled overseas and had to worry about a cellphone working over there, etc.

eSim plans from Airalo are data only so you should still be able to iMessage/Viber, etc along with internet usage but does not have voice capability. If you've never travelled before and not tech savvy, I suggest you fork out carrier's roaming fees. Just be fully aware of what that entails so you don't run up thousand dollars bill later on.

iPhone 12 should support one physical sim + one eSIM for 2 lines -- what you need depends on what you currently use for XM line

If on school trip then I'm guessing she'll be with other students (not traveling alone) in which case you can probably activate travel pass for the first 1-2 days and see if she can get by with wifi afterwards -- otherwise keep it longer to make it easier on her

You can also look for "france tourist sim card" or "travel sim card" (or eSIM) from here and price it out -- person above mentioned one service for data

So I understand that the esim will only work for data but I guess my issue is if our daughter could use her phone to call and text us via XM? I think maybe the only way for her to do that would be for us to pay the $10 per day roaming fee so her phone will be fully functional like it is here in the US for her in France? Is that correct? If so we might as well pay the $10 per day if the esim will only cover her data and she wouldn't be able to talk and text at all via her phone#.

Whenever I travel, I do the following:
1. Ask xfinity to turn off international roaming because their charges are outrageous
2. Turn on wifi calling for xfinity
3. Check out esimdb and airalo for cheapest esim and install and activate before leaving USA. Before flying out I turn off xfinity sim and turn on esim.
4. When I land in another country, I have data immediately from the new esim. Use that for whatsapp/facetime calls and don't reply on my xfinity line
5. If I have wifi then I'll turn on xfinity line to get texts, voicemail, and calling.

iMessage runs on data/wifi so she can text you if you have iPhone as well -- otherwise if you both install WhatsApp then you can call/text using WhatsApp over data/wifi

Regular wifi calling may not work from overseas (hit or miss) so might not be able to call/text without paying for international usage:
https://forums.xfinity.com/conver...3af9dfbb9a

If she needs regular calls/texts then just pay $10/day on the days she needs it -- if she can get by on alternatives (WhatsApp) using data/wifi then go that route for some of the days

Its a one-time short trip so don't overthink it -- let her enjoy vs trying to slickdeal it if its too much hassle
