I actually called in to cancel my mobile service because it would not let me do it online and they could not successfully port any numbers I was trying to bring after 3 weeks. They cancelled my INTERNET, and left my mobile active, even after I specifically said "I want to be clear, I do NOT want to cancel my internet services." and verbally confirmed that with them twice. It was an absolute joke.

She is going on a school trip to France in February for 9 days or so and it looks like it'll cost $10 per day to have her use XM while there (int'l roaming I guess). I believe her Iphone 12 has a sim card slot (not esim) and see you guys post about just popping another sim in when traveling internationally as it's way cheaper. I guess this might for my for daughter when she travels to France? I assume you still need to find a carrier over there for service and use their Sim card in your phone correct? I guess it all depends on how much that service would cost for those 9 days she's in France.
Does this sound right? Maybe this would be too much for a teenager to deal with while in France and it would just be easier to pay the $10 extortion (I mean roaming fee) per day with XM?
Any advice on our situation would be greatly appreciated
1. "No sim restriction" showed on phone means nothing ( I have that on my locked iPhone 14 currently ).
2. Have to call to unlock the sim, and eSim(!!! different IMEI).
3. When I called first time, only physical sim was unlocked. It took me a while to realize the eSim has different IMEI and did not unlocked. I had to educate the representative to unlock the eSim.
4. To learn how to use eSim, I bought 1gb data/$3.90 for USA. I used Redteago app, got $4 credit when enter prom code LIN10001 . This trial was FREE.
5. You can buy eSim package in advance before travel and
activate it within 30 day.
It appears you have several options from all the feedback in this thread, and I know it is not in the spirit of Slick Deals, but if I understand correctly, you can spend $10/day to have her normal XM connectivity while she is there for around 9 days or so, and all works normal?
Again, I am old, lol, peace of mind, $90+ well spent, save the bucks elsewhere. Just my two cents
Regular wifi calling may not work from overseas (hit or miss) so might not be able to call/text without paying for international usage:
https://forums.xfinity.
If she needs regular calls/texts then just pay $10/day on the days she needs it -- if she can get by on alternatives (WhatsApp) using data/wifi then go that route for some of the days
Its a one-time short trip so don't overthink it -- let her enjoy vs trying to slickdeal it if its too much hassle
Again the the cheapest, most SD way of doing this but probably the easiest and most stress free way of handling things. I want my kid to remember this as a great trip not one where dad was too cheap to spring for data plan, lol.
