Do I really want this thing? I've been waiting for this exact type of deal all this time. Is now finally the time? Am I going to regret passing on this if I let this one go? Will I truly be happy? What is my opportunity cost of buying this? Will this purchase yield the best utility for me for the money? Why do I need a third iPad?

Does anyone with one of the keyboard-capable iPads know if it's possible to remap keys on the iPad? It looks like the Apple magic keyboard and the logitech keyboard case etc are all missing an escape key and as a vi user that's a pretty big pain in the ass. Am I doomed to using ctrl-[ like a savage?

Obviously Apple overshot the mark with demand. I love my iPhone and MacBook Pro, but I find iPads useless as I am not an artist. The note taking is horrible. Portable LED TV with 5G for 800? That would be my primary motivation.

If battery goes deep discharge could do some damage:

Received mine today. It arrived with a dead battery as expected. I charged it to 100% and updated to iPad OS 17. I've been using it for a couple hours and the battery life seems fine. Based on my rough projection, I should be able to get 8-10 hours of screen on time.

M1 iPad Pro was discontinued in October 2022, assuming that's also when production stopped, any new M1 iPad sold today would most likely have a completely discharged battery.

Is it still possible to figure out the manufacture date based on the serial number?

Update: I've been using it for a couple days now, everyday I've been able to get around 10 hours of screen on time. Upgrading from a 6th gen vanilla iPad, this iPad with the M1 chip and mini LED display is amazing to use.

None sense. Legitimate venders (Best Buy, Target, etc) sells new discontinued apple products all the time. Apple discontinued it to sell the M2 iPads. If these are "rejects", why would they have valid apple care?

This deal has tempted me for weeks! 😩 I use an 11" iPad Pro wifi from work to do school work. I would love the extra screen space and cellular reception to do schoolwork when I'm out and WIFI isn't available. I'm deeply invested in the Android ecosystem. I'm debating waiting for a Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra deal at Black Friday, but it won't be a cellular model. I have a spare cellular line from when T-Mobile gave them away.
