Word of caution. My company deployed about 15 of these and they all had weird docking issues. We ended up having to replace them early.

They just released a BIOS update that really messed up my Gen 1 Nano and I returned it. FYI- These are still pretty buggy. Even with the pin restart the power button flashes and the computer will not shut down. In addition, I was forced to do the bios update since the battery was not charging with the recent Windows updates. It's a good deal although just be aware that these are going through some software hurdles.

You forgot to include the link to a 2-pound laptop with RAM slots at this price.

Nano's don't have screens that big, you want a regular x1.
I have this exact model and it's f'ing amazing. It does have the 3/4 keys that are more flat, but I can type just fine on it. Screen is amazing, battery life is average but very good for something so light.

It's a portable powerhouse.
X1 Nano=13.0 X1 Titanium = 13.3 X1 Carbon/Yoga=14.0 X1 Extreme=15.6 Note that X1 Extreme weighs as much as 2 Nanos, even though it is only 4 pounds (this Nano-1 is 1.99 pounds, or 907g). Nano-2 and Nano-3 are 970g or so, due to better cooling for P28 processor.

correct me if I'm wrong but aren't AMD's ryzen mobile cpu's more power efficient, generate less heat, and has a better igpu than Intel?

I'm so sick of hearing the "they don't build them like they used to" bit. Yeah, no ****. I had the 14-inch T60 from that era. It was indeed very solid - and weighed almost 6 lbs. Its modern successor, the T14, weighs about half that. This X1 Nano weighs a third that. Do you really want the ability to whack people over the head for 2x-3x the weight? I don't. Take reasonable care of your laptops, and ThinkPads will last just fine.

BTW Latitude laptops are generally also pretty well-built. The real difference is vs something like the Inspirons or the cheaper IdeaPads. With the deals Lenovo runs, you can generally get ThinkPads way cheaper than comparable Latitudes, which Dell prices super high for consumers. (Used is a different story - Latitudes are much cheaper, which tells you something.)
T480s was last great thinkpad, you can still find usd for $250.

The last 5 years Dell Latitude has been better than Lenovo

Intel run smoother and better tuning in most apps, AMD sometimes has better battery life.

Intel usually runs hot, they just add more cores to up their cpu score. 6th Gen old cpu with same power per core.

I'll jump in here as an owner of an XPG Xenia. For the $ it's a pound for pound champ. No pun intended. It has dual m2 slots, one 4x one 3x. upgradable ram, thunderbolt 4 and a gorgeous screen. The person who recommended this should be paid attention. They know what they're talking about.
Nah, Dell 7200/7300 are $ champs.$250 for 16gb(max 32), 512gb, dual power ports, dual m2 lte, 2.6lb metal case, 12-24 hr battery.

Nothing touches it.

i have this laptop, it is very light for what it.
but my question is ..

why does the description say 969 g (2.14 lbs)?
this is a WLAN model with non-touch display, which is 907g, which is about 2 lb.

Good specs for the money but soldered RAM kills the service life of subcompacts. Being able to upgrade to 32gb would extend the future proofing by 18 months.

I remember old subcompacts around 2012 still had upgradeable RAM and it is a shame manufacturers went this route. Bad for consumer and environment.

I am not a stickler for upgradeable ram, but it does exist. Here's one weighing the exact same as this ThinkPad (2.14 pounds). Of course it's not a ThinkPad but it has been as low as $400 (sold out at woot). But the idea that it can't be done is a fallacy.

The Amazon listing has it as 4.9 lbs which is the package weight. Look everywhere else and reviews to see the 2.14 pounds.
I would pay more for a ThinkPad but the bios issues described above and usb-c issues I have read about scares me.
The brand name is XPG. Has anybody heard of it before? Probably a decent computer builder somewhere. Who knows. You guys can google it and find out, I will stick with Lenovo.

Apologies if I am mistaken of the weight of Gen 1 vs Gen 2. However, I doubt if anyone can tell the difference between 0.15 pounds. I think most people would agree they are both very very light for a laptop. Nonetheless, I think 2.14 lbs in a 14 inch laptop is more impressive than a 1.99 lbs 13" laptop.
the X1 Nano is a 13" laptop (13.3) not 14". I use to think my X1 Carbon (5th Gen) was light at 2.4 lbs but you can definitely tell the difference. Also least compared to older X1 carbons, the X1 Nano switched to a 16:10 display versus the more traditional 16:9 that older generations of X1 Carbons had (the more recent X1 Carbons that came after the X1 Nano Gen 1 also switched to 16:10) so for looking at say text on a webpage or Word Doc, you really didn't lose much going from a 14" 16:9 display to a 13.3" 16:10 display.

at 1.99 (or 2.14 for Gen 2 and 3) it's still pretty much the lightest laptop around and the keyboard is still very good. the X1 Carbon is probably just very slightly better (slightly more depth) but X1 Nano is still better than the keyboard on many other top of the line laptops.

I am not sure if quoted the wrong person or misunderstood what I was saying. Perhaps you should read the thread again. I was talking about the XPG Xenia 14, not x1 carbon. The XPG Xenia 14 is 2.14 lbs, not 2.4 lbs. It is 14" 16:10 display that weighs only 2.14 lbs and has upgradeable memory slots. I seriously doubt that most people will be able to tell 2.14 vs 1.99 lbs. If you can then good for you, but most won't. Plus as I said, a 14" at 2.14 is as impressive if not more impressive than 13" at 1.99 lbs whether you can tell or not. But again, as I have said multiple times, I am not trying to compare the XPG vs the x1 nano. I was merely replying to a statement that alluded that you can't find a lightweight laptop that has upgradeable memory. That's all.

I rather wait for the Microsoft surface laptop. I brought a refurbed 10gen 8gb/256gb surface laptop 3 for little less than $400 last November for my Son and he loved it. If they have a good sale this year I will buy another one.
