It's unlikely Gerber purposely sources from more contaminated or polluted farms. This is mostly a benchmark indicating that food sources, basically everywhere globally, are contaminated. Some other baby food producers have stricter standards which is good, but you'll being paying a higher premium for that. Personal choice. The argument that Gerber is bad and should be avoided is way too simple - even at 6 months I was feeding about 20% purchased pre-made baby foods, and 80% homemade from foods purchased from groceries (costco, safeway, trader joes, etc). Most likely that "80%" has the same levels of contaminants as Gerbers default food. I'm not going to feed my baby 100% pre-made purchased baby food from only a tiny number of producers who have super strict or high standards mostly because that is too expensive and also because I dont see it as sustainable. You may be able to do so for between 6-9 mths but beyond that you'll almost have to feed them homemade grocery store bought foods.
