This is a really good deal, and is the best value in terms of dollars per frame I've seen for a gpu in this price tier. The 6800 xt is only slightly worse than the new $500 7800 xt in raster, and matches the $550 4070 in raster. The 6800 xt is a last gen card, so it is missing the av1 encoding, a couple of new driver features such as the new anti-lag+, and ai accelerators introduced with the 7000 series, but if you're just gaming that isn't a big deal. Rdna2 6000 series cards will still be able to use amds upcoming fsr 3 frame generation. You do miss out on certain features going with amd instead of nvidia, for instance dlss, nvenc, better power efficiency, better raytracing, and cuda. However, as long as your primary use case is gaming, amd cards tend to offer a much better value in raster and aren't too far behind at the same price tier in raytracing. I've been seeing the 6800 xt hovering around $470-480 for a while now, and it was already one of the best value cards around at that price, so at $430 it blows every other gpu currently available out of the water in terms of value. It also has 16gb of vram, which is a big advantage in terms of longevity, and the cheapest 16gb nvidia cards you can get are the 4060ti 16gb for $500 (which is an absolute joke of a card that gets decimated by the 6800 xt) or the over $1000 4080. Additionally, according to the amazon page, it qualifies for free starfield. Xfx tends to be a decent midrange gpu aib, and I haven't seen any concerns about this cards build quality. Overall, if you're looking for an upper midrange gpu, and don't have a specific use case that requires a nvidia card, this is an extremely good deal.

Wait... it doesn't ship until mid-October?
Is that right or some sort of placeholder?

I'd expect graphics card prices to continue trending downwards in price, there's a glut of supply and lower demand. This can be seen in the rather aggressive $500 msrp for the 7800 xt and the silent price drop of the 4070 to $550 by nvidia. The one concern is that stock of the 6800 xt will eventually dry up, and you may be stuck paying somewhat more for a 7800xt instead. I personally think there's a good chance you'll be able to find a better deal on a gpu come black friday, but it's by no means guaranteed. Also, the Q3 2023 AMD Starfield Game Bundle Promotion terms and conditions states: "Campaign Period: Campaign Period begins July 11, 2023, at 9:00:00 AM Eastern Time ("ET") and ends on September 30, 2023, at 11:59:59 PM ET, or when supply of Coupon Codes is exhausted, whichever occurs first."
So if you wait till black friday you might not be able to get starfield for free with a gpu, if that matters to you.

Only real downside to this GPU is that it is very long (340mm) so it may not fit in many cases (mine included).

Thanks for the info. A month ago I got a 7 7700x CPU, so I got the standard Starfield game code

This is the price I've been waiting for... But I pulled the trigger on the 6950 when it was $530 last month.

I'm happy with my card, but $430 6800 XT is a better deal.

I paid about 25% more money for 10-15% more performance.

The Starfield promo ends at the end of September, if this doesn't ship until the 16th of next month, what are the chances they won't come through with a code?

Great deal, I have the 6750 XT and it handles modern games displaying at ultra-wide 60+ fps on high/ultra settings. I'll say now though, my 6750 XT does not run Starfield at 60 FPS no matter the setting..

This is a solid deal. I doubt you'd find a better price on this before the stock runs dry. I own this card and it's great but there's coil whine when FPS exceeds 100 so i have to cap it just below that. I feel like it's getting better as i've been using this card for around 4 months now. Could be my hearing going too, who knows. I think this is a better buy than 7800 xt as the performance is pretty much identical.

Completely up to you. Last Black Friday, the GPU deals were kind of mediocre so I bought used early this year instead to upgrade my secondary PC.

I've been tracking this tier of GPU for a while since it's exactly what would be a meaningful upgrade for my primary PC. This is the best price I've seen this year, and there hasn't been all that much price movement throughout the year at this price range until AMD's recent 7800 XT launch. I'm rather doubtful the 6800 XT would drop to ~$400 for BF, at least in any quantity that we could actually buy.

This is tempting. This is better performance/price than rx 7700 xt which is only 12GB.

Make sure you got at least a 850 watt psu for this card. Transient gpu spikes are a real thing.
