Yup-including buying costco giftcards at costco.com making this quarter pretty terrific and damn easy to max both of my Freedom cards.
First thing to know is you need a "paid" Chase card- that is, one with an annual fee.

There's several that are $95 a year but don't really offer much other than the ability to transfer points--- if you don't travel significantly then your best route to max point value for travel is when you ARE finally planning a big trip, get the signup bonus for one of those cards (which will vastly outweigh the $95 fee) and do your transfers under that 1 year of $95 fee.

But if you travel a significant amount then getting- and keeping- the much higher fee CSR can be pretty profitable- especially if you can use some of the various monthly and annual credits for other things it offers.

Either way you have 2 routes to book travel with Chase in general-

ALL cards even free ones can use the chase travel portal... but free cards only get 1 cent per point this way so it's a waste of your time- just take 1 cent cash instead.

The $95 fee cards get 1.25 cents a point- which is still not terrific compared to most point transfer options.

The CSR gets 1.5 cents a point- which CAN be worthwhile in a few specific cases rather than transfers (for example to book Southwest Airlines-- because transfers to them usually only get you ~1.4 cents a point).

Chase points if you have a paid card transfer 1:1 to a bunch of Airlines...and several hotels (though only Hyatt is ever worth considering the rest suck for value of points).

For most airlines though (and also Hyatt hotels) you can usually get nearer 2 cents a point at the low end for coach fares or Hyatt hotels.... and often 4-6 cents a point or more for business or first class flights.

Typically if you just google something like "best use of chase points to X" where X is where you're wanting to go, you'll find all the usual travel blogs with posts about the best airlines and programs and values.

There's also more general ones lilke:

https://thepointsguy.com/guide/re...mum-value/

https://upgradedpoints.com/credit...ds-points/

https://onemileatatime.com/guides...ds-points/

as examples.
Yes, but only visa cards like freedom can be used in warehouse, not mastercard (flex). Last time discover had warehouse as 5 percent category earlier this year, i had purchased gift cards online to use in store so that 5 percent Cashback would apply.

There are differences; a credit card has the best protections under federal law.

"Lack of consumer protections
While many use debit, credit and digital payments interchangeably, the transactions don't have the same fraud protection under federal law, Mierzwinski said.

Credit cards have the most robust fraud protection under the Truth In Lending Act and Fair Credit Billing Act, with a $50 limit on losses. Debit card scams, regulated by the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, may have more liability, depending on when someone reports the activity.

Although digital payments have some protections under the EFTA, there may be no recourse for someone who falls victim to a phishing scam or accidentally sends money to the wrong account, said Mierzwinski. "

You seem confused about how this works.

Paying someone with a credit card via paypal is a credit card payment and you get your full credit card protections.

PLUS you get added paypal ones.

It's actually better not worse.

You seem to be conflating that with sending someone a digital bank-funded paypal payment- which has nothing at all to do with this deal.

I have a Freedom Visa and for some reason it is giving me error whenever I try to activate saying to check the details I enter. I guess not all Freedom Visa cards are eligible. On the other hand I have never seen 5% cashback calendar associated with my Freedom card.

Is it Freedom Unlimited? If yes then that card doesn't come with this 5% cashback benefit. All Freedom/Freedom Flex cards comes with this.

Is Chase Freedom another category of card? I only see Freedom Unlimited and Freedom Flex.

Also the card you name isn't one of the ones this deal is about, so there's that.

Freedom and Freedom Flex get 5x UR points every quarter, max $1500 spend per card, in rotating categories. This deal is about Q4s categories.

Freedom Unlimited is an entirely different card that (outside of its signup bonus) just gets 1.5x UR on everything.

The freedom (no extra words) is no longer available to new customers to open but had been around for a couple decades and AFAIK you can still product change existing other visa chase cards into it. It gets the same 5x quarterly earning as the Flex, has the same $1500 a quarter cap, but is a VISA and does NOT get the 3x on drugstore and dining the Flex does.

Well you dont get 2% costco cashback when buying shop card but get 2% when you buy stuff using that shop card.
So you can confirm that Executive memberships get the 2% costco cashback when purchasing things with a Costco cash card?

Costco only counts how much you spend on qualified purchases in a year- they don't care how you pay for it.

Specifically the section headed:

one more thing to consider, flex is master card, that means you can't use it in costco instore for club category, only at sams (can use at costco.com though).
whereas freedom is visa which can be used in costco/sams.

Does not work on freedom unlimited card. May be not applicable to all card holders.

Also, tried on chase explorer card but no luck…

Damn so you're saying I could've bought Costco gift cards online with Discover? I messed up royally then because my first year with Discover It card they match the cash back rewards so instead of 5% it would've essentially been 10%. Fck!!!!

I accidentally activated my Chase Flex first, then realized it was a MasterCard. I then activated my Freedom. Can I get the $ 75 back on each.

Amex doesn't allow this.

I couldn't enroll my Costco Visa. It's not one of the cards listed. Has to be Freedom or Flex. My Wells Fargo Visa was also not eligible.
