The fine print says minimum qualified plan is 75/mo. That's where they get you with these "free deals" - locking you in at high monthly rate for 3 yrs.

Quick math assuming you are ok with Visible/Mint at $30/mo - overpaying by $45/mo for 36=$1620, that's what you are paying for the "free iphone".
If you live in an area which has good coverage then better buy an unlocked phone and get a carrier of your choice than getting robbed by these guys for 36 months.
I have an unlocked phone & pay $20 per month for service. Can't be happier.
What is activation fee anymore ,!! Just another fee from older times

One line total, and you pay $20/mo including service, taxes, fees, etc., and it's unlimited talk/text/data?

Please share who you're provider is!

You guys need to start adding that you will be locked in a contract for 36 months in the title. Why on earth would anyone want to be stuck for 3 years overpaying?
"Overpaying"? Your logic reminds me of rooftop solar owners gloating they don't pay for electricity, but never mention the $30,000+ check they wrote for that "free" electricity.

If we get a "free" iPhone after 36 months, that's $1200/36 or $33/mo we're saving on our "overpriced" plan. You pay $1200 out of pocket for your phone, and how much is your monthly cell bill? Do the math.

T-Mobile still has 24 month
T-Mobile plans are much more expensive than AT&T plans though. $120+ tax for 4 lines on AT&T with First Responder or $200 with tax on T-Mobile? Easy choice to go with AT&T and keep the phone for three years.

I agree I have been with att for over 15 years. Why do I have to pay this BS fees every time I get a new phone.
You agree they have terrible service and you stay with them for 15 years? What's wrong with you? Confused

I see what you did there. Make a blanket statement that isn't true then sneak in "with First Responder". I bet T-Mobile employees get cheaper plans on T-Mobile than T-Mobile employees get on AT&T!!!

Read every comment in this thread; wondering if there's a post we have that consolidates all the best paths/options for upgrades on iPhones? Folks are talking about trade-in, preferring unlocked, pre-paid carriers versus major, selling your phone every year versus keeping for several, family versus single account… might be asking too much, but just wondering what the best options are given a variety of common scenarios is.

Absolutely. There ought to be at least consent among us SDers, if not official SD requirement, that you cannot post these mobile device deals without clearly disclosing that it comes with a contractual committment paying over-the-top prices and junk fees for mobile services that are much, much cheaper without the "free phone".

That used to be my experience as well. But, not anymore in North Carolina. I think the better coverage might be related to the Firstnet network expansion by AT&T.
What part of NC are you? I am about 35 mi SE of Raleigh

Does anyone know if you can order any color from Costco in store? Saw Costco advertising it online but they're only showing it in black.

Also, can I preorder at one store to pick up at a different one?

I just upgraded 2 phones on my T-Mobile Magenta Amplified plan at Costco to 15 Pro Max and traded in 11 Pros 64gb. The 11 Pros were acting up and getting difficult to use. I got $650 trade in value each for 11 pro ($160 instant and remaining as 24 months bill credit) + $75 Costco gift card for each phone and no upgrade fee of $35 that T-Mobile charges.

Sure there would probably be better deals around Black Friday, but I thought this was decent for now as am getting $650 for a 11 pro. Also, the rep said the pre-ordered phones should be shipped on Sep 20th itself instead of 22nd.
Did you do this in-store or online? And was it at a specific Costco T-Mo kiosk?

Thank you for the info. Did you go to Costco or you did it online?
I have iPhone 11, on T-Mobile website they offer 350$ for my phone.
I did it at Costco in-store. You need to be on Magenta Max or equivalent plan to get $650 for iPhone 11. If you switch to their newer Go5G plan, you get $1000 for iPhone 11, but plan is like $60 a month more than Magenta plans. The only difference between doing at Costco vs T-Mobile online is the extra $75 Costco gift card per phone and no upgrade fees. Plans are all same.

How much is the monthly cost for the plan?
i pay $160 for 4 lines with unlimited everything. Each additional line from 5th line is $20 more. So it gets cheaper as you keep adding more and more lines.
