The fine print says minimum qualified plan is 75/mo. That's where they get you with these "free deals" - locking you in at high monthly rate for 3 yrs.

Quick math assuming you are ok with Visible/Mint at $30/mo - overpaying by $45/mo for 36=$1620, that's what you are paying for the "free iphone".

If you live in an area which has good coverage then better buy an unlocked phone and get a carrier of your choice than getting robbed by these guys for 36 months.
I have an unlocked phone & pay $20 per month for service. Can't be happier.

There is no termination fee on device payments. Your responsible for the balance of the device if you decide to leave att.

A lot of competitors will entice with "switch over credits" or some type of equivalent buy out option.

I don't see the issue with 36 months can someone explain to me the complaints?

A $1000 phone will have $333 payoff value left after 24 months. You can trade that in for $480 iPhone 14 pro value right now. So if you buy out the iPhone 13 Pro for $333 from Att at 24months you'll still come out ahead by $147

So none of the people are loosing out.
I guess this is only true for iPhone. Android users are screed as their devices fall off the cliff

These 36 month "bill credits" are the biggest scam/rip off ever! Take me for example. Traded in my "IPhone 12 Pro" 9 months ago to upgrade to the 14 pro max. Let's say it was $1,000 in these 36 month "bill credits" well now that I am upgrading to the 15 pro max, they are cancelling the remaining 27 months of bill credits from my phone I tuned in! Literally canceling $750 out of the $1,000 they offered for my phone… so I'm getting screwed! They only gave me $250 and are keeping my phone. Now they are doing it again with the 14 pro max I got and on top of that they are charging me a $350 early upgrade fee and are locking me in for another 36 months which means I can't upgrade or change for 3 years or they will cancel my trade in credits. AT&T is scamming so much money from trade in people and then lock them in for 3 years. Disgusting!

Mint is Tmob, has VERY bad quality in my area and I am still on it. You could try Cricket which is same reseller as Mint but on ATT netowork. The more lines you put on it the cheaper it gets

You don't have to upgrade from 14 pro max to 15 pro max. That makes no sense. I've been waiting for the 15 pro max since my 12 pro max was eligible for upgrade in March. You can just ride it out on your 14 until the 16 comes out, then end it earlier than 36 months. Might lose only $333 instead.

You could just pay full price for the iPhone if that makes it easier for you.
