The fine print says minimum qualified plan is 75/mo. That's where they get you with these "free deals" - locking you in at high monthly rate for 3 yrs.

Quick math assuming you are ok with Visible/Mint at $30/mo - overpaying by $45/mo for 36=$1620, that's what you are paying for the "free iphone".

If you live in an area which has good coverage then better buy an unlocked phone and get a carrier of your choice than getting robbed by these guys for 36 months.
I have an unlocked phone & pay $20 per month for service. Can't be happier.

Can you trade in carrier lock phones to ATT? Metro just shipped me a Galaxy S21FE and I'm not sure if I should refuse the package to get a refund.

Spoke to Costco rep via phone today - Nesconset (Long Island) NY location
I'm on Magenta Max.
For iphone 11 pro and newer I was told $650 trade in.
For Samsung S20 I was told $650 trade in.
For Pixel 6 Pro I was told $300 trade in.
For Pixel 7 or newer $650 trade in.

If i changed my plan to the new Go5G plan - I can qualify for $1000 off new phone - but the plan seems to be a lot more $.
Wouldnt justify the cost difference over 2-3 years.

Might be better off waiting for a better promo in the upcoming weeks (rep said he thinks maybe a buy on get one free offer like years past but he's guessing).

Also the iPhone 15s dont have fast charge over USB C - WTF?

Edit: I believe the phones are the same price everywhere but you get 0 activation fee and $100 Costco Shop card (previous years it was just $100 cheaper maybe cant do that anymore but same end result).
Oh ok, thaka for the info. I have a metro pcs Iphone 11 that I got as spare phone, I bought a few weeks ago for $120.I want to get rid of, I think for me the $650 is not bad. It sucks their prices changed, I wished apple gave the same price because I could then use the 10% mil but then the dumb activation fees. I used to get my 13 pro and a family got last year the 14 pro $100 cheaper from Costco, I guess inflation hit the mobile company to keep giving the discount difference.

Find me one that gets me the iPhone 15 Pro for $100 after my iPhone 12 tradein. I plan to stay with AT&T with my corp discount of 25% so it's worth it for me
I could see it maybe making sense with a 25% discount, but wouldn't it still be more expensive over 36 months than, say, Cricket, US Mobile, etc? If it's $10+ more/month for the AT&T plan you'd still be paying $400 extra to get the "free" phone, since you're tied to the 3 years of credits. I'm just guessing here so my math could be totally wrong, especially if you're on a family plan or something.

Red Pocket deal
phone: $899-200 (rebate) = $699
3 years of service: $1180 (1 year monthly and 2 1yr plans)
sell the old phone on Swappa: $250 credit (if it's in "fair" condition, could be more)
total: $1629

AT&T deal:
phone: $999-830 (36 bill credits) = $169
$75 plan - 25% for 36 months: $2025
total: $2194

Over 3 years it seems like you'd pay $565 more to go with the AT&T deal. I could see how the extra effort isn't worth it just to save ~$200 or so over the long term, but over 3 years you'd have almost paid for a 2nd phone just to get the one for $100. (unless my math is just wildly off, which is definitely possible) Smilie

I just talked to an AT&T rep and told him I was looking at the Costco offer. I eventually had to provide my membership ID to link the order.
I wouldn't say this is a done deal because the Costco GC may never come.

Do you know what offers Costco has for tmobile, I was going to visit the warehouse today. Are they still selling $100 cheaper than tmobile/apple store? I want to get the $650 for a trade in they have at tmo store/online w/o paying the bs activation fees they do.
No info yet, but I know that to take advantage of max credit with T-mobile you have to be on their most expensive plan Go5G, all cheaper plans would get less credit.

I talked to T-Mobile rep in Costco, he said I have to bring all phones into the store if doing trade in, he can'tjust receive the imei of each phone, he has to lay eyes on each phone. I told him that if I did T-Mobile online trade in, they can't lay their eyes on them to ensure screen is not cracked. He like "that's the way it is."

What do you do with kids away in college?

Was this an att rep from a store or thru their central/remote location via the 800 #?

No, we don't pay $70/line for ATT.
For us it is slick, bc we pay between ~ 27 to 35 per line, with family plan. Over 3 yrs amounting to 972 to 1260 total. We have no reason to change courier, and have been doing upgrades on multiple lines for many years. It is a bonus with Costco tagging on 150 and waving activation.

I started with chat online and eventually scheduled a call with the guy I was chatting with. He is from AT&T, not Costco, not an affiliate.

EXACTLY! It's about time to wake up. I cut my monthly bill to a fraction of what I used to pay by going with a pre-paid plan. As for the phone, you can trade in your old one and/or other Apple devices towards a new - unlocked - phone. Like you said, it didn't add up to go with those promos.
I mean… last go around I paid 4 iPhones off early… continued to get the promo credits for the duration. Not sure where the heart burn is.

Premium post paid service for less than prepaid…
